vbar w/ a gov?
I just got myself a swanky new vbar, and am trying to get it set up. Everything looks good with one exception:

I can't seem to get any signal to my governor. Pre-vbar I was just using a the aux channel on my receiver to tell the gov which RPM setting to use. Now I'm using the vbar (the new one) with 2 satellites. I'm working with a DX7. I've tried every output on the vbar to see if one of them does anything with the aux channel, but none seem to.

Am I missing something here? Will I not be able to use my gov with this configuration?

Okay, I just read somewhere that the rudder input becomes the aux2 (7th channel) output when using the satellites. That makes sense. Except for one thing.

I'm using a GV1. When I increase throttle, I see the RPM setting going up and down as if I was playing with the subtrim. It appears to be tied to the throttle output somehow... Any idea what I'm doing wrong here? I'm sure it's just something stupid at this point..

Collective becomes throttle out.
Rudder becomes Gain out (aux 2)

How do you have yours hooked up?

I'm pretty sure that's exactly what I've done. Throttle servo is plugged into the GV1, and GV1 throttle in is connected to collective, then I have the rpm lead from the GV1 connected to rudder on the vbar..

Just it seems to be proportional to the throttle.. Wierd. Maybe I just didn't connect it the way I thought I did. I'll double check.

Oh, I forgot,

Under TX Calibration, Expert mode, make sure Aux2 reads 6 (press enter after you enter the number)

Also make sure you have the latest firmware (online update from within the program)

It happens quite a lot, believe it or not

But I do have a good memory, tell me once and I will remember (might take a few minutes longer from time to time though, as above)

Okay, I just confirmed that it is definitely plugged into the right channel. I even unplugged the gov just to make things simple, and started playing around with the throttle servo alone.

It is definitely doing exactly the same thing when plugged into either collective or rudder. There's no mixing in my radio either, and aux2 is assigned to aux2 for the moment for testing.

I just had a quick look at your suggestion MR. Mel, and I don't see an option there for Aux2. I have:

Collective
Ail
elev
tail
speed...
Aux

Aux is assigned to channel 4 and doesn't seem to do much..

Actually I forgot that menu was even there. Now that I look at it, it appears to be the channel assignments. I suppose the absence of Aux2 as an option is a clue here. I assume it's because I didn't download the latest software version? I currently have 4.0.18.

Unfortunately I gotta go to work now, so I'll come home at lunch time and fart around some more. Wanna try to get everything working so I can hit the field tonight.

You figure updating the software will fix my woes?

Too old version.

head over to http://www.vstabi.info make sure you download 4.0.20c of the PC software.

After the new version, enter 6 in the Aux2 and it should work.

Will do, and I'll keep y'all posted if that's what fixes things up for me. I'm confident that you've hit the nail on the head though..

Confirmed. The version of the software I was using was too old and didn't have the option to change outputs. Aux2 was assigned to channel 0 (throttle). After switching to 6 as you suggested, everything appears to be working correctly.

Thank you very much Mr.Mel!

Mel,

Any plans for having a gov in the vbar? Or is this in the works?
