Why I Carry a Gun
Why I Carry a Gun

My old grandpa once said to me, "Son, there comes a time in every man's life when he stops bustin' knuckles and starts bustin' caps and usually it's when he becomes too old to take an ass whoopin'.
I don't carry a gun to kill people. I carry a gun to keep from being killed.
I don't carry a gun to scare people. I carry a gun because sometimes this world can be a scary place.
I don't carry a gun because I'm paranoid. I carry a gun because there are real threats in the world.
I don't carry a gun because I'm evil. I carry a gun because I have lived long enough to see the evil in the world..
I don't carry a gun because I hate the government. I carry a gun because I understand the limitations of government.
I don't carry a gun because I'm angry. I carry a gun so that I don't have to spend the rest of my life hating myself for failing to be prepared.
I don't carry a gun because I want to shoot someone. I carry a gun because I want to die at a ripe old age in my bed, and not on a sidewalk somewhere tomorrow afternoon.
I don't carry a gun because I'm a cowboy. I carry a gun because, when I die and go to Heaven, I want to be a cowboy.
I don't carry a gun to make me feel like a man. I carry a gun because men know how to take care of themselves and the ones they love.
I don't carry a gun because I feel inadequate. I carry a gun because, unarmed and facing three armed thugs, I am inadequate.
I don't carry a gun because I love it. I carry a gun because I love life and the people who make it meaningful to me.
"Police Protection" is an oxymoron. Free citizens must protect themselves. Police do not protect you from crime; they usually just investigate the crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess.
Personally, I carry a gun because I'm too young to die and too old to take an ass whoopin'."

...author unknown (but obviously brilliant)

Remember the average response time to a 911 call is over 4 minutes.
The average response time of a 357 magnum is 1400 FPS.

Get over it liberals

Where did that come from?

Cities are settling with citizens for law suits all the time.

Funny how they try to spin it. No significant statistics that CHLs contribute to crime, but a lot that say they reduce it.

Let me rephrase that....Theres a reason you cant sue the police because they werent there when you needed them, or took too long to get there. Sure you can sue them for negligant behavior.I Dont Have No Stink'in Signature

There is a long standing legal precedent that you cannot sue the police for not showing up. There was a case around DC IIRC in which a young lady was held hostage and raped in her own house for hours. The police were called twice, both times they knocked on the door and left because no one answered. She later sued the police. The ruling from the court was something to the effect that the police had done nothing wrong and they were there to provide assistance to the general public, but no duty on a case by case basis.I give up on Loctite, nothing lasts long enough to vibrate loose anymore.

I Open Carry and also Carry Conceal depend on where I go. I have been License to carry for over 15 years now...

It is a Second amendment right which everyone need to uphold. It is the right to Carry Openly not the Privilege....

Carry does not mean to Kill people. Carry is to protect your love one from be harmed by BG and protect them as needed.

Sure BG can mess with me all they want but don't mess with my love one especially my kid...

doesn't everyone who gets a carry concealed permit not want to carry concealed?

why does he have to have a reason, it's his right to do so.

I want one too, but for other reasons. One day you won't be able to get that permit, so I'd like to get one while I can. Also, the main reason I want one is to be able to have a loaded weapon in my vehicle without breaking the law and getting pummeled by the cops when they find it. We've all seen the clips. Cops see a gun and just automatically plant your face in the dirt. I don't really feel the need to walk around with a gun on my hip, but I do feel the need to have a loaded weapon when I'm driving thru some shady parts of town.

Now do not get me wrong, I am not a religous freak. But if God had any say in it he would probably tell you not to carry a gun and that there should be no guns at all. So I really doubt God gave you the right to carry a gun.
So long and thanks for all the fish!

Agreed, the only reason needed to be given for WANTING a CCW is because it is your RIGHT.

When carrying a weapon at ANY time, but especailly in a vehicle and you are stopped by a LEO, you should inform him IMMEDIATELY that you have a weapon in the car, on your person, whatever. This will most likely prevent the "face in the dirt" scenario.. In most states that is required by LAW, and is included in your required training for a CCW.

If you wish to OC (Open Carry), then you should also familiarize yourself with your states laws concerning the carrying of a weapon.

A wealth of information can be found here, http://www.handgunlaw.us/ .
