Dead Gyrobot 700---anyone had one of these fixed?
I have quite a few Gyrobot 700's and up till now never had an issue...

Well...I installed a brand new one in a heli of mine and when I went to fly it ...the Elevator sensor took a dump and died...

It sound slike I am going to have to return this to germany (Lf Techniks) to get it fixed?

Has anyone out there had one of these fixed before?

Kind of a bummer that there is no US support for servicing these

@Misskimo (since you brought it up)

as for your experience with VBar/RH, thing is, its VERY easy to tell if you hooked up the cable wrong (i've seen the result in person on the motherboard of the sensor), yes, they should have built it differently, I agree 200%, it should have been XH connectors or something like it, polarized, but going hardheaded against a German (regardless of company) when its very easy to prove something, its just a no-win situation.

I know they have helped people who told them just what happened, even if it was user faults.

Well Im telling it again and again, I did not hook it up wrong, I checked 3 times before I plugged it in! thats the reason why I bring it up! yeh! I probably fried it after it wouldnt work trying other ways, but when installed my first way, it seamed to be a short! I had a Sbec on it and the lite went dim.

I actually took a look at the circuit Tony "damaged" and one of the polarized caps was damaged...blown up.

Also I found an issue with the micro controller start up. Basically after power up I had to short the power and ground before the microcontroller would output any data. Seems like the microcontroller was damaged some how.

I can see how the cap got damaged reversing the polarity....BUT the microcontroller could have easily been damaged before this incident. You can do a lot worse things to the microcontroller and it will still work. The fact that I can get the micro controller to send data again as mentioned above seems very weird to me.

Regardless of how Tony handled this issue his unit should have been replaced....

Its not my call but it sounds like a microcontroller issue(no data output) started a sequence of events that got us to this point.

Hopefully LF takes better care.

BTW...being hard headed is probably why the Logo line still carries a belt driven heli with a boom thats too small leading to static issues and also sell those dreadful black main shafts that dont fit in bearings.

I beleive what I told you was that from past experience Lutz (LF-Technik) would want to inspect the system before determining if they would warranty it. Sending it back directly would be the quickest way of getting the unit into Lutz's hands. You said you were thinking about trying something else in the machine it came out of but if you need a system to keep flying with I'd be more than happy to send you a loaner until we find out about the failed system.

On a different note, I had to send my Rondo in for service. It never seemed to work right and after many receiver/power problems I realized that the Rondo was bad too. They claimed the earlier version had issues, of course this is the one I bought and the newest version (haven't a clue to which version this is now!) supposedly fixes all the known issues.

Took 2 weeks to get there and they have had it for all of last week so hopefully it will be back to me soon for a maiden voyage after some 5 part time months of figuring out receiver/power/Rondo issues.

Good luck Jag72.

My experience: When something is or seems wrong, contact the manufacturer directly without bashing in a forum in advance (you can still do that later if you don´t get serviced accordingly). I had one issue with Mikado and LF concerning a faulty brand new unit and they were replaced without any hassle. In the case of Miakdo it also helps to post in their V-Stabi Forum, if Rainer then tells you to contact Mikado directly, they usually react very pragmaticaly.... at least here in Europe. I don´t know how warranty issues regarding V-Bar are handled in the US though, where Ready Heli is the exclusive importer.

you have to realize that most/all of these companies are tiny and the 'distributor' never has any technical means or authority. So if you go down these roads or some 'defective' electronics from (for example) Korean company, either be prepared to write it off or learn how to do international shipping and eat the cost.

And it's not only these 1/2 man shops, I have a HD/upgrade oneway clutch from one of the very best Japanese heli companies and the US importer (quite large) could only say 'you'll have to buy a new one ($250) or send it to Japan'.

The service I've received from Readyheli and Rainer regarding my vbar has been nothing short of being STELLAR. Its without a doubt the best customer service i've experienced in 15plus yrs in this hobby including the various LHS ive frequented.
Readyheli/Rainer are AAA+++ with a cherry on top

And what's wrong with contacting Lutz?? Omg in this world of communication ...
Lf is one man show so bring some patience but I am sure he will take care of you. Concerning the waranty claims well if you would be in Europe everything you buy it wsrranty for two years period not this limited time Bs. If I were you I would tell the distributor in the US to stuff it and next time order directly. If they cannot Handel your claims or cannot support you what's the point dealing with them again??
