Is Vibe 50 less 3D capable???
Why other heliflyers dislikes vibe 50. Is it less 3D capable compared to other 50 size bird out there? To name a few of the complains..
1. The dreaded tail hum
2. Slow on the cyclics - Is it really???
3. Heavyweigth
4. Expensive to maintain
5. Etc.

Is it because of the cost to mainatin or performance?

I've noticed several flyers putting their vibes for sale and Powerrchobbies.com are now selling vibe 50 20% off + another 10% off for 1st time buyers which brings down the cost of the kit to $431 (Not bad eh!).

I own one but I'm not into 3d yet so I can't say if it is less 3d capable compared to other except it fly smooth.

What do you think guys?

I think this is not true at all.
1. The dreaded tail hum
2. Slow on the cyclics - Is it really???
3. Heavyweigth
4. Expensive to maintain
5. Etc.
1) Can be fixed by replacing the tail baldes to shorter ones, and if you BUILD the heli right, not assemble it! There is a big difference.

2) Not slow at all. In fact it can be very fast for some. And, there is no binding whatsoever if you even go to +-12.5 and +-8 on cyclic

3) Compared to a 450, yes, very, but compared to other 50s in the market, heavier than some, lighter than some. This is the case with ANY heli.

4) To maintain? NOT AT ALL. Because the quality is so good that you hardly wear any parts out. T0 fix after a crash? Maybe. Depending on what YOU consider expensive.

5) Thats about it

Over all the Vibe 50 is a great machine, and there are a number of top pilots that flew them on a regular basis. Jamie Robertson used to fly one, Hiroki Ito still does...

Hope this helps.

G

Less 3d capable? Thats funny.

About the only drawback is the parts aren't avaliable at every walmart or 7-11 like the Aligns are.

Good to hear your positive feedback...I just order another one from powerrchobbies for $430 bucks. Came out cheaper than Align 600N.

I have flown 450's for 2 years w/o expo and very light paddles even some pros said they were to fast. My vibe 50 with Super Stub Paddles is sick fast I actually needed to add expo. This in part coud be due to the intimidation factor of my first nitro though. However the vibe 50 with the new YS56 engine is an incredibly agile and precise machine. You can look at fridays B'Ham fun fly videos and see my friend Carl Groover flying mine a little tentatively because it was mine. But nice video either way.

A friend of mine traded a Trex 600 for a vibe 50 and put all his equipment from the 600 in the vibe.He says the vibe feels lighter in the air and the collective is much more responsive. the cyclic is a lot more quicker,he ended up with 40% expo to slow it down. It also tracks much better in foward flight.YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE..IF YOU LIVE IT RIGHT THATS ALL YOU NEED

Power helis, along with other dlrs, have periodically had that Vibe sale for years. It's a recurring thing.

The parts prices (esp frames, swash, etc...) did just go up.

I do like my Vibe. A friend has 40 flights on his TRex 700SE... there is slop all over the place in his head. I wouldn't know where to start to get rid of it all. My Vibe has 150 flights on it. The only slop I can find is in the servo gears. For some reason, this heli just doesn't wear.

I take it back... I had one part fail... the tail servo. I still need to send it back to Horizon. I put a new one in (BLS 251) and it is rockin' again. I also has the clutch bell work loose from the bearing stack. It's my fault because I knew the starter shaft was loose but didn't feel like fixing it. I re-locktited the pinion w/ 609 and she's good to go again.

Cheers

I did him one better. I had a TRex 600E on 12S that just sucked. It wasn't fun to fly at all, especially at battery-efficient headspeeds. I dropped a Vibe head on it and WHALA! It ROCKS. The head design is magic.

I did just sell this TRex and I've got a Logo 600 FBL on the way... should be here tomorrow. A whole 'nother breed!

It just donned on me... I am now TRex-less... down to the Vibe, Mikado Logo 600, and a FBL Protos. Sweet fleet!

1. The dreaded tail hum
Stay with tail blades no bigger than 92mm. I've never had a hum until I tried Align 95mm.
2. Slow on the cyclics - Is it really???
Much faster than many .50 without loosing track. I couldn't believe the difference when I switched from a 600N.
3. Heavyweigth
Yes. More than most new .50s
4. Expensive to maintain
No. Because is a tank and break a lot less parts on a crash and hardly wears.

There is only one thing I don't like of my V3D and is that the cooling fan isn't the best design. 2 or 3mm bigger will cool a lot more. Most new .50 had bigger fan and shroud, my YS56 even rubs a bit

The whole reason I bought a vibe was because I was sick and tired of maintaining my Trex 600N. After only 5 gallons I had to replace almost all the bearings and ball links. After a few more gallons I had to replace the one way. A few more gallons after that, the swash started separating. The only issue I've had with my vibe was a tail hub failure but that was because I was using some bad Align tail blades.will wash your heli for a quarter

yea the tail blades that come with the kit are way too soft and are dangerous to fly.
