Dual tail motor anybody?
Microheli has the dual tail motor mod for the CP Pro II and I was wondering if it is any good.

Anybody?

What is the tail boom diameter on the CP Pro II?

Never tried it, but gotta ask "Why?". So much success with other options, without adding the weight so far out on your tail boom...

What other options?

Extra weight on the tail won't hurt with a heavier battery.
It's not a 3D machine.

Dont do this, its a waste and you may be overloading the tail ESC.

Are you going through tail motors?

I got more than 50 flights on my first tail motor.
I fly it in rate mode and it seems to be alot easier on the motor.
I also never hover in place because I know that's hard on them.

I have a friend working on a brushless direct drive variable pitch shaft driven tail for me.
It finished one on a HBFP and it works perfect.

It has a forward mounted BL motor that turns a torque tube driven tail.Like a micro Maxi Joker.

Can't wait to see it on my SR.

If you are going BL anyway, why not just replace the stock brushed motor with a BL one? Lots success with that setup and tons of info on RR...

You completely lost me there dude....

Going BL is by definition replacing the brushed motor with a BL(brushless)one.

Please explain...You mean go BL and keep the direct drive?
I'm going to go BL and go VP.

Yes - just replace the stock brushed tail motor with the appropriate sized BL tail motor.

Why add all the weight and complexity to make a "micro Maxi Joker"? Although that would be pretty neat...

Which brushless tail motor would be appropriate and
would you need to use another esc for it!

An 8 or 10 amp second esc would be needed and this is the motor that was recommended to me for a straight swap.

You could tap into the main motor wires but it might be too much for the esc to run two motors.

There is a brushed to brushless signal convertor that might work.
If so,you could use the brushed esc already on the heli.Maybe.

By the way,the signal convertor is more expensive and heavier than a second esc.I literally never use the word literally right.

I had a Jken Compy 300 with the MH Dual-Tail Drive set-up;

Definitely made the Tail heavier (that's why it's shown running the stock vertical stabi-rod) but, the motors didn't seem to be working as hard as the single-unit. I was running one of the xm-seller 3S 11.1V. 1350mAh Li-po's and CG was really-good with this set-up.
