Ok, I have decided to add a 600 to my fleet since my 400 has been a great introduction to the world of FBL. I'm also going to be buying a V-bar for my nitro bird. I'm hoping to catch a deal on a 600 but if I get impatient I'll just get the kit. My question is this, is the 600SE & V-bar P-N-P unit worth waiting for? As I understand it the SE will have a longer boom & swing bigger blades while the P-N-P unit will have an easier setup. Am I missing anything?

Thanks

I was under the impression that the PNP units were preloaded with the preset for whatever heli you are flying. You would also have access to the software and make changes. It sounds like a package deal with the conversion for the head. You already have experience with the software and could do it yourself.

What nitro bird?

BTW, I'd wait for the SE so that if I wanted to swing 693s in the future, I would have that option available.

I have a T-Rex600N that I would like to make FBL. I recently bought the Align 3G head for it. I have a V-bar control panel so I guess having the P-N-P version wouldn't make much difference, even though it does sound nice! I'm guessing the P-N-P units will be preloaded with Logo models only, if so I might as well get the current version to put on my nitro. The SE will be the carbon version as well, is this right?

No they wont be loaded with the Logos models only, for whichever heli you buy, including Align if you must. The current Vstabi software is easy, and you can simply select the model you want for preset, if you have or will have an Align heli the presets for their line is actually very good and requires very little tuning. On most parts people are happy after about 5-6 flights tops, the stories of people bringing laptops to fields and endless tunings are complete BS unless you are a tweaker but I haven't met to many people that adjust past that amount of flights. PNP was developed as a less intimidating thing cause of the attraction and fear for some, but in 100% truth and reality the V4.0 software is not only very straight forward but very easy. Mikado has made videos front to back and as well recently so did Mr. Mel. You can DL the software for free and also watch all the vids if you like you will see what I mean, be well.

I went through the videos & steps to setup the v-bar on my L400, so I am familiar with it. I did get help from a couple people initially, including MrMel, who helped me correct an issue I had with my elevator sensor. I recently bookmarked MrMel's videos also. I'll wait for the SE model & hopefully catch a deal on a used 4.0 v-bar for my nitro, unless the P-N-P version has a cheaper price which I doubt. Do you know if there will be a software update allowing people to upgrade to P-N-P?

I do not know 100% certain but I think all PNP is, is a specific load of a preset based on what PNP you buy. As said honestly any Vstabi with 4.0 you can select the preset and I'm certain that would be almost same if not 90% of what PNP is. PNP is not an upgrade it is only a select set of parameters to accomadate your heli you choose. I could be wrong but this is what I understand that it will be. As mentioned the presets that are there now are very good for all the helis, including the non mikado helis.

+1

All my Vbar helis flew very good right after initial setup. No tweaking requires to solve wobbles like with other "popular" FBLs (3G like) .

plus the field unit makes tweaking very easy if you do want to tweak. like oicu said, after being familiar with vbar, 5 or 6 flights and it flies just like you want. after than i just make a not of anything i want to change slightly and change it when i get home typically.

I have to admit, my first V-bar required little tweaking also once setup correctly. All I required was a touch of Expo! I'll try and hold off for the SE since I read that it will probably be out within the next few months or so.
