I've been contemplating replacing my LiPO setup with a direct LiFE setup and finally took the plunge and glad I did.

Initially I had an Outrage 2s1p 2500 LiPO with a regulator. I replace the setup with a Hyperion 2s1p 2100 LiFE, step-down for the tail servo, and used an electronic fail-open, light weight switch so I can turn the heli on & off without relying on a typical mechanical switch.

Yeah I lost 400mAH but I can charge the LiFE crazy fast.

Kinda cool. ~6.6v unregulated direct battery to servo with the ability to conveniently turn on & off and lighter all at the same time

I know 41g isn't much but anything counts right?

Good job - there've been arguments waged over less weight difference than that!

What switch did you put on there? I've been making my own switch harnesses with Deans or EC3 connectors to make the connection complete (no switch at all).

I have two Hyperion LiFe packs but I think the next packs I'll buy will be the Tower Hobbies Hobbico LiFe packs, better connections options.

Now if we could just get our high performance servos to loose some weight, that'd be a big difference in total aircraft weight.

What is your total weight down to? My SE is around 10 1/2 pounds with my latest setup... I would have to take some big steps to lose any more signifigant weight to the airframe or I could still swap some electronics to lose a few grams but I am happy with the current setup. I have a few tricks to lose more weight but it is flying good so I am probably done with the diet... for now.

I used a Perf Reg Remote Switch. I too was going to go direct but wanted to have the convenience of switch. The switch itself (including deans connectors) weighs ~12g. I have to re-weigh the switch because I replace the deans with an ec3 on one side and removed completely on the other. Switch weight should be down slightly

As far as total weight I need to pickup a hanging scale. I don't have an accurate way of measuring it yet.

Once the new Vbar software or Total-G gets released I should be able to shed more weight loosing the governor.

Supposedly TT is coming out with a lighter motor mount as well.

Hmmm should I ditch my SwitchGlo?

OT in my own thread...does it really make a difference??????
