Example:

For sale Trex 700 LE new in box no motor, Looking for $1400.

Price is obviously way too high what should I do?

1)Rudely PM him even though I'm not interested
2)Post in thread saying I can get them for $700
3)Post in thread accusing the poster of being a scammer
4)Post anything at all in thread because I have nothing to do with my time other than posting in for sale threads I'm not interested in
5)Leave thread, Keep what I think to myself

Which answer would you choose? You would be surprised how many RunRyder members get this wrong.

you forgot option 1.5: politely PM him pointing out that he is attempting to sell the bird for twice retail value, and he might have more luck at a more reasonable price.

I did consider that but most members have difficulty doing this without including some form of an insult.

Of course number 2. I mean how could you turn down such a bad deal.

You can't fix stupid, and they don't sell more at walmart.

Embrace failure because without it success would be normal.

Yes it may seem like my post is a bit harsh and unnecessary but I have been selling online for close to 10 years now. On many different sites and overall everyone has been very polite and respectful. Until I started selling on RunRyder. I have been accused of trying to con people, Been called a liar, and have had just downright rude interactions with many members. Strangely enough never with anyone I've actually sold to. The thing that bothers me most is people that I've never talked to seem to have no problem posting in my thread calling me a liar. Just don't post in my for sale thread if you are not interested in buying. Is that so much to ask?

I respectfully disagree! We're fixing stupid right now, and Walmart sells little else.
Is that so much to ask?
It's like my mamma always used to say, "shut the he11 up and get me another beer dammit!"

That's all I have to say about that.

How about option #7. PM him or her and remind them that this should not be in the engine section and that they would have a better time selling it if it was in the Heli for sale section.

Option #5 taken may times here and it is the best one. Sometimes i subscribe to see if someone buys the part or heli.

If he wants to sell a crappy T-rex (Raptor's own!) for 5000$, let him. His loss if no one buys it. It isn't your job to monitor other people's threads and if someone purchases an overpriced widget, so be it... buyers should inform themselves.

We're not looking for a cure. We are looking for "incremental improvement". If we were all be brilliant (i.e. me ), we'd lose our frame of reference.

Or number 6...
offer $140 and tell him that you assume that he just made a typo, which, in fact, might be the case. Sometimes mistakes are made. This offers the person a way out.

I feel you KWH, at least the mod in RunRyder handles situation professionally unlike my experience in RCtech.net

I had a run-in with a newbie few years back over some used item to which he wanted to pay dirt cheap, he even went to compare my price with a new unit so I politely told him to get that new unit instead but that rubbed him the wrong way I guess.

That is not the problem, the problem starts when the local mod himself joined in the childish fray of charactor assasination. Why did the mod behaved in such a way? All because I was in the wrong off-road camp!

A bigger question in my mind is why so many folks here seem to think that a used, heavily worn item is still worth 95% of the new price. Look at used car depreciation - models are no different! The value drops the minute you open the box, and keeps going down from there . . . so much more than 60% of new for a used heli is insane . . .
