According to Mr.Smith (The Matrix),humans are like a virus. We over populate a area and use up all of its resources.

World population reached 1 billion around 1790, 2 billion around 1927, and 4 billion in 1974. By 2011 the world population is predicted to reach 7 billion. The world's population is expected to reach nine to 10 billion in 2040,or by 2050.

The fastest rise in population is in developing countries where governments, social systems, are more unstable.

Question, is this a problem,if so can or how will it be fixed.

is this a problem
Yes. Taken as a whole, our species' recent history (over the last 3000 years at least) essentially defines our effect here to be more like a cancer than a benefit to the 20-30 million other species on this planet.
can or how will it be fixed.
The ongoing lack of environmental ethics we as a species exhibit (so far anyway) pretty much means that even though the technology already exists to feed 10 billion humans, it's highly likely we've already passed the 'tipping point' when it comes to viable solutions to the population explosion.

Chances are high that within the next 1000 years or so either an unavoidable asteroid or a fresh eruption of the Yellowstone Caldera will drop population levels of all species WAY down again. In the 3.6 billion years of life on Earth, more than 99% of all the species which have ever existed are now extinct.

Thats very true but too far in the future to turn the tide of depleted resources by mankind. Would the powers to be ever consider a quicker solution such as WWIII?

Such 'quicker solutions' are always possible when one considers some of the criminally-minded nut jobs who run some of the 200+ countries on this planet.

Ive got one for ya, If everyone was only to have 2 kids from now on problemo solved!

You dont have to throw people in prison for haveing more than the qoata, simply charge a one time small fine of $1000 per extra child, if you want 10 extra kids it will cost you $10000, if you cant afford $10000 for 10 extra children how on earth can you afford to feed an extra 10 children anyhow???

Ive never been able to understand the logic of someone liveing in a third world country, who is struggleing to even feed them self haveing 5 or more children in tow.

We cant just keep on increaseing the world population for ever, something has to give at some point, thats if it hasent already started falling apart at the seams already.

The aftermath (read fallout) of that frighteningly likely scenario could easily top anything another big asteroid or the Yellowstone Caldera would ever dish out.

I hope America never goes the way of the Roman empire, my life would be meaningless without big budget American movies, It would not even be worth watching TV anymore.

Im not sure wich would be more painful, sitting through 2 hours of Chinese subtitles or one of Baz Luhrmann`s epic Australian dramas.

Baz Luhrmann
I had to look that guy up. I'm not much of a Hugh Jackman nor Nicole Kidman fan, but I thought 'Australia' was well done. A little shmarmy in the romance department, but overall worth my time. Flippin' gorgeous country you have.

In fairness I havent actually seen the movie, I tend to steer clear of anything remotely connected with the Australian movie industry these days.

American movies have Huge killer robots from outerspace that destroy aircraft carriers with cool weapons e.t.c, where as Australian movies have drag queens that listen to ABBA whilst rideing on buses, Mad Max was OK but since then its all been downhill.
Well Spitfire1 and Heliguychris, from what I've read Australia will be a good place to be after the nukes fly.
I suspect apart from obvious things like left hand drive the two countries are very similar, in many ways I dont think you would even know your in a different country if knobody told you.

We got tons of resourses.... so long as our US friends, remember we are friends, im sure well be happy to share

We got, like , all the uranium not quite, but tons of the stuff, that we dont use.

Overpopulation is a bad situation, that will get worse still, as the East, trys to emulate the West`s way of living. Just imagine the traffic jams !! lol

Its not completely unimaginable that we might change our way of doing bussiness, as far as global warming, resource management.

There actually advertiseing electric/hybrid cars and people are actually buying them, slowly people are actually plonking solar panels on there roof for electricity.

We have one on our roof that durin the daytime hours will make our electricity metre stop turning with an Aircon running, 2 fridges, computer, TV and a pond pump all running and only cost 5 - 10K to install, and I see em all over the place on new homes now.

The next big turning point is nuclear fision, but I think its some way off yet. 10 - 50 years who knows.

Even if we solve all our current resource and energy problems, theres still the problem of over population, I dont know what the answer to that is.

I should state for the record, Im not entirely convinced global warming wont end up to be just another Scientific fad of the day, not dissimilar to the Commodore 64 or Atari game console in its day.

Would you agree that their is a elite class of people that look 100 years ahead and make plans so that their family heirs remain in the elite class? They have a answer and I fear it's depopulation.
