Align needs to build one High End Flagship. something to compare with the Vibe SG,Hirobo turbulence and kasama srimok in a bare bones kit. fully upgraded with top notch bearings. I Think that's all align is missing. Not putting down the 700 but just one High end ship!

Wouldn't that defeat the whole Align purpose?

I will agree with you is that Align needs to release a bare bone kits. There stuff is high end enough for me. There is not much i would change on most of there kits. I believe they have been setting the standard curve for other manufactures to follow in the last few years. Also your forgetting some , in this market right not high end does not sell. Why should i spend $400 - $600 on a crash, when it usually cost me around $250 to fix a 700N. If anything i hope they keep lowering there price to make this hobby more accessible to other.

One thing that you will notice with all of the kits that you mentioned....nobody is flying them.

So it doesn't seem like there is a big market for that type of machine if history is correct.

I think that people are making a bit too much of the Align bearings, I truly don't have many issues with bearings unless I smack it into the ground, at which time there will of course be issues.

You have the option to spend hundreds of dollars on bearings if you so desire but it will by no means improve how the model is going to fly. It will however increase your crash costs.

a note on bearing, some bearings have a tighter race then other this will create drag.

I have to agree with mike.

In addition, why would you want to pay twice the price? Just upgrade the bearings yourself.

As a side note, I find that there are quite a few ugrades for "high end" machines.

when i built my trex 700 i had both main bearings in the bearing blocks bad right out of the box. they were notchy and grainy feeling.
the screws are also horible, especially the shoulder screws. some of them strips when you back them out. this is with no locktite.
also my ball links are wearing fast and the head assembly have a lot of slop after several gallons of flights.

however, the rest of the heli and overall performance is incredible. good value to fun ratio.

but i recommend a complete bearing kit, complete ball and plastic link kit, complete screw kit right out of the box and it will be a perfect heli.

it dont have to cost $2500 to $3500 to make it a flagship model.

I hear what your saying but respectfully need to disagree.

It's quite possible that you got some bad bearings with so many hundreds of thousands of them being produced. However quick wearing links is a thing of the past, the current Align links work very well, I have 300 flights on some of them and they are still from the kit.

Some of the screws can be tricky but with a good set of solid sharp tipped hex drivers you will hardly have an issue. I will also say that I use red Loktite on my screws and don't have any issues.

I pushed in fresh grease in my mainshaft and main blade grip radial bearings with "The Greaser". Bearings are still in good shape. Think I did some of the other bearings too like the pinion and maybe tail grip bearings. I do notice that when I do this it seems as if the stuff I push out is pretty dirty, any brand heli/bearings I "clean" this way.

I dont have any problems with my bearings either, or any real quality issues, the only thing I replace is the bolts and clutch.

No bearings though, as Mike said only in the occasional crash, but thats any heli.

frame screws are crap
That was my biggest problem. Getting those out once they have stripped is a pain in the ass.

I would have to agree the bearings are not that bad. The times I did have bearing issues, there were alignment problems I didn't catch at first.

the two main shaft bearings i got that were bad were not install. i simply rotate them on my fingers before i install them and notice right away they were grainy and notchy feeling. its just my habbit of liking to rotate the bearings when i hold them, usually before i install them. perhaps its just my luck to get a set of bad bearings right out of the box.

not needed stock bearings work fine and doing PM to your helis is key if you re-grease a bearing don't over pack it as this will cause the bearing not to spin but drag which is bad more is not better when re-greasing a sealed bearing
