Did they just wreck a 59 Belair to do a comparison?? What a shame!! It could have probably all been done by computer analysis..

Sure is. They could've at least used a scrungy one from a junk yard with lousy paint. Our family had the wagon version of one of those when I was a kid. We went on a massive wad o' road trips in that boat.

No doubt. Where did they hide this seemingly pristine Bel Air? And why didnt some employee from the institute steal this beauty before this atrocity could occur?

Right on. One of my buddies has a 60 wagon that was his dads first car. It is now and slammed and bagged street machine, sporting a late model 'vett motor complete with A/c. A sweet ride it is.

Didn't surprise me a bit. Old cars are a death trap. The safety of modern day cars are an order of magnitude above that of what was built decades ago. The only problem is so many people take it for granted that the car will save them and their actions while behind the wheel then negate the safety of the car.

You have to realize that even as late as the late 60's you couldn't sell safety to the public. All they wanted was speed, luxury, styling. Safety was the last thing on their minds.

True! Speed style and luxury is all that matters when you are drunk behind the wheel.
