Could someone explain what KV per volt means and what I should be looking for in an electric motor. My motor burned up in flight, but was able to land with minor damage to gear. BTW, got a Blade 400. I know I should be able to use the about the same stats as the TREX 450. Shame that this couldn't happen a day sooner when I went to the electric flt expo yesterday.

The Kv is the rpm the motor will produce at one volt with no load on it. What ever the Kv rating is you multiply by the volts of your batt. pack.

So is a higher number better? Or does it just depend on the brand and how efficient it is?

It really depends on the batt pack you will be using. On your Blade with the 3S packs fully charged you're looking at 12.60 volts, about the max. Kv would be like a HK-2221-6 with 4400Kv. that's 55,440rpm. You never want to exceed the motors max. rpm. You should consider the HK-2221-8 with 3595Kv. for your Blade.

Edit: Higher Kv motors are more efficient, but you lose it because the higher rpm uses more capacity from the batt. pack.

The Kv is right and that's a very good price. I don't think you can go wrong with it for $20.00.

That is what I thought, it has some good reviews. I stumbled across it during a google search and found someone talking about it on another forum boasting about it. I like the idea of a fan on it as well. Just not familiar with the brand. On a side note, would I have to upgrade my ESC with this motor?

Do not forget you will need a ESC ( speed control ) with no less than 30 amp to run that motor.
