My father in laws computer has some malware on it. The problem is that we cannot install or uninstall anythig. It says there is something already being installed we cannot find it. I've ran Malware byteds and Spybot and nothing. He took off AVG and was going to put on Avast and that is where the problems began. As soon as he took AVG off. Is there any other good programs we can try?

He did take it to Office Depot and they did a free scan and said it was malware, but they want $170 to attempt to fix it with no promises.

Press the Windows Key and R, then type in "msconfig" without the quotes.

Select Diagnostic Startup and restart the computer, see if the problem it was having is gone then report back?

I was joking originally, but judging from your reaction I am thinking I hit the nail on the head. Saying you got kicked out leads me to assume your were living in her parents's house?.........seriously?

No Hots, I got kicked out of MY house. The one I've been supporting while my wife was in school for ten years. And one of the reasons is this wonderful hobby. After spending all the money AFTER my wifes approval appearently she didn't like it.

Make sure you read my first reply to you, I appologize that you were joking. I have been in a bad state of mind and scarcasm is sometimes hard to see in writing.

Not to mention the ONLY time I have been on his laptop is to help him try to fix it.

Just how do you get "kicked out of your house"? Something is wrong with that statement or is it me?

I am assuming they are splitting the sheets so to speak, and he is the one that got removed from the residence, the norm it seems in todays society.

My condolences on your current situation ttsingram, that sux.

I use a lot of sarcasm, and as you stated it is sometimes hard to pick up on in printed text. My apologies to you for making light of your poor situation, I wish you luck in the future.

Thanks Hots, I was just in a pissy mood. Things are working out. It's basically bad communication that we are working on. There's still hope.
