Dear fellow pilots, I have a question.

When I fly my small 4G6 inside in a room, I still experience kind of tension despite the fact, that I fly any direction, room is big enough, not many obstacles, I can pretty fast (it seems to me fast) piro any direction and moving piroing, piro circles not a problem. But still I experience tension, although during flight I still think of my other problems and I fly how to say on a background. So it seems, I should not experience much tension, but still it is tension and I feel that some of my muscles are not relaxed, but 'fly' as well. Body language, so to say. And I do not fly inverted. Just upright flight.

When I lastly flew my bigger helis, it was less muscle tension.

Do you have similar or I just need to fly way more?

depends on what I'm flying and what I'm doing.
No tension on the MSR and most my other helis. But when I'm trying something new or low to the ground, more tension.
I will say after spending lots of time on the sim over the winter, I'm able to relax doing some stuff used to get nervous about.

What does give me tension is flying over hard pavement... No matter what I'm doing.

I get the Willies for a few mins no matter where I fly then it goes away.

Stick time is the cure.

My experience is that if I'm working on skills, I'm not relaxed. In fact, its very unrelaxing. Adreneline pumping, on the edge of control. The only time I'm relaxed during a flight is if I'm doing something that I'm very familiar with.

As I'm flying a 600 more, I'm finding that a typical flight has a lot more "spare time" between stressful moments. At times I do find it relaxing in a way I've never experienced with a 450 or smaller heli.

For me, the tension comes from the fear of crashing. I tense up
noticeably when trying a new move (or even thinking about whether
or not to try a new move).

I'm most relaxed flying my 4g6 (3months old with almost 100 crashes)
since crashes typically incur no damage. In fact the last month
or so I started sitting down in the field while I fly my 4g6.
I found that I fly a lot more smoothly when sitting down, perhaps
because the transmitter is on my lap and is more stable. I normally
fly without a neckstrap so my hands are holding the tx as well
as stirring the sticks.

I can't do any new move, I seem to be stuck where I'm at. After a crash take me a least 10 flights before I get comfortable again. After I get comfortable I'll fly it hard and cause it to crash and back to zero again.

Relaxing heli flights. Used to be a misnomer. But I have to admit the mSR comes as close to flying rotary Valium as you can get with a single-rotor. But it does have its drawbacks.

Due to the radically un-regional cold, wet, and blustery fall and winter we had here in the Sunny South essentially all my flying was relegated to indoors.

The mSR's ease of maneuverability and self-correcting behavior spoiled my fingers. Even in high rate with -40 expo. When I got the 450 season-ready and finally got to the park I felt like I had lost a year rather than 5 months. Flip? Forget it. Haven't even tried a stall turn again yet. Nose-in is different. I drilled heavily indoors on that so I'm good there.

Maybe I should have simmed more than mSR'd. Space bar = new heli. No pressure...

A soul in tension is learning to fly

Shiz, I'm running -40% Expo, 125% DR and 150% travel on ELEV and AILE. That more closely matches my CP heli's required stick travel. But it certainly does not turn it into a CP as it still has the self correcting flybar behavior. But it at least the stick travel is closer to my other helis.
