I have had that. Not sure which of these sequence items make a difference, but I get the v4 software running, then plug the usb into the computer (this doesn't matter I'm sure, but I do anyway), then plug into the vbar unit which has been cycled on prior to connection. I use my usb ports for a lot of things and I have to make sure the cable is seated well on the computer.

Anyway---I've had that and it seemed to require the vstabi software be fired up and the vbar unit be fired up before connecting via cable.

Other random thoughts: Perhaps the vbar unit is v3.6 firmware and the software v4? Not sure how you could tell what firmware.

Final thought---I'd restart your computer.

vbar no connection
thanks guys, i have V.4.0.. my laptop is getting old.. i have restarted several times, when i plug the v stab in the computer makes the usb sound like anything else but the programme continues to say "no connection" and if i try and up load something, the software attempts for 60 secs or so then says the connection timed out although the software never states that there was a connection in the first place..
strange.... but saying all this i still dont get any response from my servo's although the motor runs, but i am assuming thats a result of the v bar soft ware have having reconising the vbar andf not istalling the software the vbar needs one first connection to initialize the vbar.. i dont know.. anyway ideas??

I have version 4.0.18 and I see there is 4.0.20c. Do you know where the release notes are or what this release fixes?

Am I right in presuming the governor software you're referring to is for nitros and measures rpm signals from the fan. The Jive does a great job already, not that everyone has a Jive esc. I couldn't find anything to read about what it does---but then again, I don't think I really know where to find these things on their site.

Well, if your drivers are installed(I know Ron helped me with this) it worked right away when I was using XP. I dont know, but its just a thought: when your computer is booting up, hold F8 and select disable driver signature.

What OS are you running?

When the Vbar is plugged in does it show up in Device Manager?

If so does it have the yellow exclamation next to it?

If it does right click it and uninstall it then right click your computer in device manager and click "scan for hardware changes."

this is how mine acted and how I fixed it.

Install the drivers in safe mode on XP. That trick did it for me. I was getting lockups with my XP based netbook...
