The math is in! If you skip lunch and fly a 450 size heli you will save money. That assumes you do not crash. You must also buy a low cost heli, and low cost batteries. But if you can get 200 to 300 charges per battery pack and fly through four or five battery packs instead of going out to lunch every day you will actually save money!!!!

That is to be shared with wives and GF's who may be thinking we spend too much money on these little whirling creatures of pure joy.

Lord hear our silent prayers to Thee
For those who fly from ships at sea.

Who doesn't fly a 450 like an idiot, and does not crash. That is like my practice toy before my real flights.

It's a fact 450 crashes don't count. They don't count as crashes and the money spent doesn't count either. (At least that's what I tell my girl)

I wouldn't consider a 450 a toy. Once you delve into the collective pitch arena from the coax's thats when it becomes real. Doesn't matter at that point if it's a 250, 300, or 450 it is not a toy , if fact harder to fly than the bigger birds IMO.

i don't think he meant 'toy' as in easy...just 'toy' as in cheap.

my 250 is my toy. i just don't give a **** about it. it flies great--handles just like a .90 on crack. and, i have no qualms about banging around inches off the ground....if i dump it i'm out, what $25 tops???

if it ain't broke, break it.

LOL definitely not me! I crash about every 30 flights or so and I fly like a bat out of hell with my 450! I really don't give a crap about it either!

...now where was I, dh/dt = BS-dx/dt
I will fly you forever... till earth do us part

Physical Benefits of Hobbies:

* manual dexterity
* focus and concentration
* creativity
* improved health
Rc helis save money in the long term. People with hobbies can lower their blood pressure thus saving on drugs or future heart and artery operations. RC helis make us learn so much that our brains are always making new neural pathways, this has been linked to staving off Alzheimer disease, big savings in no long term care facilities. I'm so concerned about health savings that I should get another Heli.

I think they are actually more dangerous that people think. Maybe for instance I crashed my 450 and was sooo pissed that I started jumping up and down on it slipped and broke my ankle. Very dangerous for health.

Embrace failure because without it success would be normal.

I think that you need a second 450 so you can take the crashes in stride and avoid injury !
Then you will get the cash savings in full swing and get health benefits as well !!

Or, God forbid, you could fly like me and just be too tame to crash. No fun there.

It wasn't the helis fault that I was pissed. It just happened to be the straw that broke the camels back.

And the reason I crashed was a striped servo gear. Lawn Dart.

It's not the money that bothers me. It is the time to rebuild and tune it.

Skipping a few lunches here and there might help me dropa few pounds too!

Careful with the anger fits when the heli goes wrong...A couple of years ago a local golfer missed an 8" putt. He was so pissed he swung the club and hit the pipe supporting the top on his golf cart. The club bent in half and the end of his putter came right around and smacked him in the temple. Dropped him in his tracks. He was DOA.....true story.
