This man is dangerous and his actions need to be stopped ASAP! Just saw some of his crap on ABC's evening news. He wants to stop the 'liberal slant' in our children's text books, like the 'liberal slant' that the earth is more than 10,000 years old. How the hell do nut-jobs like this get to a position of power like that? And how the hell is the Earth being apprx 4.5 billion years old a 'liberal slant'?

like the 'liberal slant' that the earth is more than 10,000 years old.
IMHO People that believe the Earth is only 10,000 years old are only going to acknowledge what their faith states. A religious student was asked "If the earth is so young how can you explain dinosaur fossils" the answer "The devil put them there to confuse us", Can't argue with logic like that.

the age of the earth is NOT an issue of faith. Anyone who thinks it is, is a total, utter moron. Period.

Think the Bible is too liberal??

Write your own conservative version!!

Conservative Bible Project

As of 2009, there is no fully conservative translation of the Bible which satisfies the following ten guidelines:[3]

1. Framework against Liberal Bias: providing a strong framework that enables a thought-for-thought translation without corruption by liberal bias. For example, the Living Bible translation has liberal evolutionary bias;[4] the widely used NIV translation has a pro-abortion bias.[5]
2. Not Emasculated: avoiding unisex, "gender inclusive" language, and other feminist distortions; preserve many references to the unborn child (the NIV deletes these)
3. Not Dumbed Down: not dumbing down the reading level, or diluting the intellectual force and logic of Christianity[6]; the NIV is written at only the 7th grade level[7]
4. Utilize Terms which better capture original intent: using powerful new conservative terms to capture better the original intent;[8] Defective translations use the word "comrade" three times as often as "volunteer"; similarly, updating words that have a change in meaning, such as "word", "peace", and "miracle".
5. Combat Harmful Addiction: combating addiction[9] by using modern terms for it, such as "gamble" rather than "cast lots";[10] using modern political terms, such as "register" rather than "enroll" for the census
6. Accept the Logic of Hell: applying logic with its full force and effect, as in not denying or downplaying the very real existence of Hell or the Devil.
7. Express Free Market Parables; explaining the numerous economic parables with their full free-market meaning
8. Exclude Later-Inserted Inauthentic Passages: excluding the interpolated passages that liberals commonly put their own spin on, such as the adulteress story
9. Credit Open-Mindedness of Disciples: crediting open-mindedness, often found in youngsters like the eyewitnesses Mark and John, the authors of two of the Gospels
10. Prefer Conciseness over Liberal Wordiness: preferring conciseness to the liberal style of high word-to-substance ratio; avoid compound negatives and unnecessary ambiguities; prefer concise, consistent use of the word "Lord" rather than "Jehovah" or "Yahweh" or "Lord God."

Thus, a project has begun among members of Conservapedia to translate the Bible in accordance with these principles.

Pretty much.

I don't really have anything against religion as a whole and I know it brings comfort to lots of people and good for them.

But rewriting it to suit a certain group?
Huh?
No kidding, I was too. Follow the link to the Conservapedia. Its like Wikipedia only without all the liberal bias like facts and science.

Jeebus save us.
That should be liberal Jeebus save us.

Conservative Jeebus wants us all to die and burn in a fiery lake for all eternity because we used bad words and watched South Park on the TV machine.

and it would bring a lot of comfort, peace and happiness to atheists and agnostics too, IF IT WERE CORRECT.

But then again, if it were correct, one could argue that one need not do anything in life and just follow the rules. There will be no need to be responsible, to think independently, question and explore things further, because it's all been resolved for you.
