Problem: Tail will shake, 1-2" left and right after an increase or decrease in throttle. Can occur in a hover, though infrequently.

FM1: 100 - 90 - 100 FM2: 100 100 100

Setup: GF, stock motor 500L, stock Align ESC, stock flybar paddles, Radix blades, Logictech gyro, 6100 full size tail servo, 5245 cyclics
13T Pinion, 6S, 2600mAh (new batteries - FP, hyperion, Turnigy)

This problem appears mostly in FM1 which has a dip in the throttle curve. Problem still occurs in FM2, but not as much. Attempted lower gyro gain settings, little to no improvement.

Thank you for your help.

Yes, even at 100% though not often, more frequent at FM1 with curve. This leads me to think something other than GYRO. Problem occurred with higher gain as well. Lowering gyro gain was the first action I took.

Any known issues with Align ESC and Align 500L with this tail kick? It is a pretty serious back and forth, not like the small quick movements of high gyro gain.

if you have governor mode enabled on the ESC, disable it. (Go to heli mode rather than heli mode with governor).
I chased a tail wiggle for 2 days of multi flight testing. Gain up, gain down, replace gyro tape, etc.
Disabled the governor and it all went away.
I run flat 80% in normal, 85% in idle 1 and 95% in idle 2.

GOV mode is disabled. Soft start only for that ESC option.

I will lower the gyro gain further, although I may get to the point of almost no gain for tail lock mode. Will experiment.

Try a shorter servo arm. That really helped my T500.

Check your Radio in FM1. Make sure there is no subtrim, expo, atv. may be something there on the rudder channel thats different then your other flight modes.

Is your gyro set for digital or analog servo, which one are you using?

Logictech 6100 gyro and 6100 servo. A full size servo and moving the ball closer inside on the wheel will only bend the tail wire further, which I am not interested in doing.

Lowered gain today, helped some, but I am getting to the end of the range for tail lock. Tail wags in turns as well.

I noticed the problem was worse on one battery pack vs. another. Not sure why. No TX changes between batt changes.

All settings in FM1 and FM2 are fine, no expo or other items.

This is really bothersome and gives an insecure feeling while flying.

Thanks for everyone's help.

Most likely its your ESC on the way out. Mine lasted about 10 months.Started with a tail wag dialed it down as much as I could but was still present then it was brown outs to the reciever then finely I lost throttle response all together. Ordered the same ESC that came with the ESP kit and right out of the bag it would not power the reciever sent it back and so far #3 is working good. But I have only about three hours on it. Will see!!!

If you are running a belt on your tail make sure the tension is correct and it is not missing any teeth...just a thought.

I have this same problem on my 450. I do not recalled exactly what it was, but it involved some programing on my ESC and TX.

Thanks for all the replies. The story ends negatively as it crashed yesterday.

I moved the Logictech 6100 gyro from the top of the tail boom housing (at the frames) to the RDLohrs gyro tray. No other modifications were made or even touched from the previous days successfull flying.

1.5 minutes into the flight I lost radio control after my second roll to inverted. The loss of control lasted about 7-10 seconds before it impacted earth.

Did this new location from the gyro, being closer to the tail servo, tail gears, and boom be the cause of radio control loss from interference?

I have the TT, with the full size Logictech 6100 servo. RX located in bottom tray in rear, with satellite posted on the side. ESC is all forward under the battery tray. I had the most separation I could have. One toroid magnet on throttle wire from the ESC.
