Hi,

I have been having a problem with my raptor 30 v2.

Im using a gaz-126 gyro (gy401 clone) with ds821 gyro i know they both work ok as they were in my century hawk and worked with no problems at all.

However in my raptor everything is fine for forward flight and hovering, i fly in rate mode not hh mode. however when i catch the helicopter when desending in the bubble and the heli drops i apply power and the tail kicks 90 degrees.

It also does this on punchouts

I have been told that my headspeed is too low and when i apply throttle there is too much torque resulting in the kick.

so i have changed the throttle curve to the following from advice of other forums what do u think??? does it match the pitch curve ok or do you have any other ideas what it could be other than the throttle curve.

I know its trial and error but is the below ok for a good starting point to stop the kickm

Pitch -4 low stick +5 mid stick +9 top stick

Throttle curve - 20,50,65,75,100

Many Thanks,

Jonny

Try this
When descending : Try to keep just a bit of forward motion to stay out of the falling column of air. The feeling of your trying to catch it in the down draft will be reduced and you won't have to punch the collective.

The kick may be the result of the tail servo - (analog) or (digital), or if you {have} " or {not have} the gyro set to the proper setting in relationship to the style of servo your running. See if the gyro has a tiny switch - to indicate the type of servo it recognizes.

The switch on top my be labeled "DS" for digital - Also check your radio setting in the gyro menu.

Just for conversation: if' it's a Futaba and your in the GY screen the GY represents the Futaba GY series of gyro and not gyro.

Kudos : If your in rate mode all the time as that's one of my goals

Ok, I bet many are thinking it, so I have to ask, why not HH??
Even with a very slow tail servo, you will not get a 90 deg kick anytime if properly set up in HH.

Since you are only using rate mode, have thought of adding revolution mixing? Its a lost art but not hard to do at all.

BTW, r mixing will get rid of the kick when you punch the collective. Do not use with hH mode...

Since you mentioned that the kick goes away in HH, the servo speed isn't the culprit. I also would recommend a little revo when using rate mode.

To Get an idea where the problem is, You need to do some tests...

Hover then do a full power climbout.

If.....
The tail kicks then stops - Servo too slow (arm too short?)or gain too low
( this can also be shown in HH mode, But the tail may try to return to its starting pos as you back off the power)
The tail kicks and keeps turning - Not enough tail power

Although this is the tests i do in HH, I would imagine they would give you some more info if you tries them in rate too
