I've had my Knight 3D stored in my house for the last 2 1/2 years, I've been busy with work and school. Recently, I wanted to get back in air, and I have been taking apart my heli and checking bearings, etc.

I dropped the engine, and discovered that the crank shaft will not turn.

I removed the head and backplate, and the engine looks pretty clean on the inside.

I've sprayed some Silakroil penetrating oil inside and I'm letting it sit to see if that will loosen it up. But the crankshaft is completely locked up, I cannot rotate it at all.

Is it possible the bearings are rusted to the point where they won't turn? Or maybe the piston ring is rusted to the sleeve?

I can't see any obvious signs of corrosion, and the engine ran great the last time I ran it in Fall 2007.

Yes it can be rusted solid. The oil and some heat should enable you to disassemble and replace the necessary parts. The engine can rust in days.

Thank you for your reply.

I did manage to crack it loose, it's still turning rough however.

I'm going to just send it in to YS for service.

Thanks again!
