so far the rotor head has been rebuilt .

and the hs carbon steel feathering shaft did not suffer any damage
which i think is pretty insane after smacking into a moving truck.

the torque tube tail unit didn't suffer any damage .

the cf boom was awesome since it was not metal it didn't bent and shows
no signs of any boom strike.

so the rebuild video will have the Steve Austin theme song from the six million dollar man .

so far xgear spider landing gear is on the way.

i have upgraded the blades from 325 to 335mm high quality cf blades

frame has been upgraded to carbon fiber

and carbon base plate.

im gonna upgrade the servos to Hitec HS-5065MG

guess their is nothing else i can really do .

id love any advice or opinions on any thing good .

Watch at YouTube

rebuild should be done by this weekend .

the gyro looks to be in good condition but i have been wanting a spartan for the longiest and that may be the final upgrade for my best 450 in my small fleet.

A crash is an upgrade opportunity. It didnt really look that bad though. Good luck on the rebuild and lets see some nose in video. This video is from a long time ago.

and toolman so far i think i did things a little backwards as far as learning orientations is concerned dunno if it has to do with me being a lefty lol but.

i kinda took to the air after i learned to hover and keep the tail straight.

it has been easier for me to nose in hover from 10 feet up so i have plenty of room to recover.

and guess them blades 5 feet away from me swinging guess i just dont have the nerve for low nose in hover yet but its interesting to see it done

i may have to break out my training balls again

In the videos i had very low headspeed. I was just doing some nose in training. Also kept a stool in front of me. It took quite alot of training to feel so comfortable with nose in. If you try it outside you have more protection.

Question for ya.

Did you use TG to learn tail in hover?

Why wouldnt you use TG to learn nose in hover which is more difficult?

Just a thought.

first question :yes

second question : i practice it from why up high without tg like 10 feet and then lower and back up i dunno how i would do it if the heli were 2 feet off the ground but id imagine i do the same turn the tail around and add + collective .

i do understand your view hope you understand mine as well.

i practice nose in without tg.

but low head speed etc guess i better buy me a honey bee thank you toolman.

why do you need to hover nose-in? makes no sense to me,,,as long as you can fly fff,,8s,,circuits you have nose-in orientation. thats all thats needed. i can hover nose-in but i never do, there is no need to. i can stop the heli in any orientation but i always land and take off tailin.

i understand folks need to learn nosein,,,but i fly planes too,,it was never an issue

I tend to agree that too much emphasis is put on learning nose in hover at the beggining, my reasoning is that Ive often seen people trying to do it the "correct way" and not moveing onto anything else more fun, as they never actually feel theyve completely mastered a basic skill thats required to progress any further.

Im not suggesting one ways wrong and one ways right, but Im sure if I had of say for instance not moved on to forward 8`s, rolls, loops, backflips e.t.c until I had completely mastered nose in hover, I would have gotten bored of flying helis years ago and given it up, if not Ide likely be still trying to completely master perfect hovering skills now.

You kind of get used to nose in when you fly the heli back to yourself in FFF, as it looks pretty retarded to spin the tail around and bring it in tail first, thats when you know your looking at a rookie when they stop about 100 ft away 50 ft up and slowly bring the heli back tail first, it looks realy stupid so you learn to do it nose in.

i agree with both of you guys i think when some folks see you progressing to fast they like to use that on a piot as a let down
sometimes.

now i feel like i have been used lol and i might have been
thanks for your excellent opinions.
