Hi guys

Looking at getting a radikal.

Couple of questions:

What oil do you use and at what mix? Is it just 2 stroke stuff?

Due to the smell of the petrol, will keeping the heli in the shed over winter months damage the radio electronics etc..?

I used to keep the helis in the shed but the components started to corrode.

Thanks in advance.

I really wouldnt keep in in a shed over winter...unless you're sure there absolutely no damp. If not planning on flying in the winter then pick a day late season to pump it dry, pull the lines and leave somewhere to vent out and lose any residual odour..then take indoors.

I used to use castrol TT and TTS (halfords) but a UK tuner suggested using Castrol XR77.. which I've switched to..Not that Muggins can tell any difference and my gassers spend more time on the bench than in the air (I still haven't sorted a bizzare tail swing on Spectra and now my Predator has got the unpredictable slight wanderings too)

This is the Predator that decided to go off on it's own a while back and refused to respond to rudder or throttle cut or killswitch and ended ina heavy auto when it decided to shut down and piro after all..

It's all refixed on the minimal damage and now wears a dual lipo/reg system but I'm keeping him short on juice and close by until confidence returns and the tail gets solved..

If you're concerned about smell, you can run Coleman fuel or race fuel. I would keep the heli inside your house in the winter.

Coleman fuel is just too expensive in the UK

You can always go to your local general aviation airport and pick up some 100LL aviation fuel.

Again no smell and stores for ages without any degradation.

Looking at your higher cost of Coleman fuel in the UK, compared to that in the USA, it seems the UK importer of Coleman camper fuel is ripping you blokes off more then are your R/C heli equipment importers.

After doing a quick study of the costs of doing business (including shipping into your country, higher wages and commercial space lease costs) in the UK, and removing your duty & VAT taxes that is included in the retail pricing of your RC & heli items, it seems your local pricing is not that much out of line.

But unless there are huge extra taxes on camper fuel, that is some pretty excessive pricing!!
