I would like to personally thank Jeff and everyone else at MA for helping me with my clutch. This proves to me that their customer service matches, or even exceeds, their expert build quality.

I just want to take this time to explain my positive experience with Miniature Aircraft. For those of you who haven't read my previous post on my clutch issue on my new Spectra-g here:
I bought a used spectra that suffered a hot-start. I sent the clutch in for a new liner and had everything else checked out. A week later I got everything back looking good as new. Over the course of the next few weeks, I burned about a gallon breaking in my new Toxic G231. Somehow, the clutch managed to disintegrate while hovering.

Begin a broke college student, I didn't know how I was going to afford the repair. A few great guys on this forum, Mike545 and Raja, even offered to help by donating money. I respectfully declined and sold my back-up tx. to finance it. I called Jeff at MA and explained the situation and he said not to worry about it, just pay shipping there and back. Not only did they replace the toasted clutch and liner, but they sent me an entire brand new unit, driver and all, in a factory sealed bag!

Through this experience, I attest, I will be a life-long customer of theirs. Their build quality is second to none, and their customer service has been better than I could have ever asked for. I wish all companies had such standards.

Now I just have to find a way to buy my tx back!
Thank you,

+1 for Miniature Aircraft!!

I always say, you get what you pay for. Their kits sometimes might be a little more expensive but they are a high end heli and this just goes to show you that they care about their customers. Kudos to MA I love my Spectra G

It's a complex, costly, glow powered anti-gravity machine!

Dont take this the wrong way please, just trying to offer an opinion.
Its great that you like The Spectra-g, they are a great machine.
However the part where you said you are a broke college student threw me a little bit.

This hobby can get rather expensive as you already know. It only takes one little part to go bad and you can lose your whole heli or end up with a huge fixit bill. And something will go wrong, whether you like it or not, sooner or later. Just something to be aware of.

The gassers tend to have a lot more little things that can go wrong as opposed to nitro.

Just trying to make you aware of the hidden costs thats all.
Sorry to put a dampner on things.

My best advice to you is this: If at anytime you hear the exhaust suddenly sound different to normal, or the motor sputters even once or twice, immediately hit throttle hold and land it and do a flight check as something is wrong.

Make sure you pin the boom and check your links regularly.

It took me the better part of a whole year to finally "exorcise the demons" in my Spectra, to finally end up with a good reliable ship, but I enjoy a challenge even though there was a stage where I wanted to throw the whole heli in the garbage bin. It was a LOVE/HATE relationship with me

Forgot to add that 95% of my problems were Zenoah based, so its no fault of Minair.
Just thought id clear that up.
I swear I had gremlins undoing my exhaust and carb bolts constantly.
They would unscrew so quickly and easily no matter what you did,
it really gave me the sh-------ts! Im sure other owners now exactly what im talking about

If you are having the muffle come undone you probably need to use the stock zenoah box muffle. $25? I have been using mine without any issue what so ever. I have used the torpedo v3 and v4 and a hatori muffler with all kinds of fancy hardware. The zenoah stock works perfect with red locktite.

Maybe i need to send my clutch back as well.

Also how do you know that you will not burn this clutch as well. What are you going to change in the heli/engine with the new install?

if im not blade bogging youll find me pack puffing

The side mount zimmerman muffler will work best on the Spectra. Will never come loose on you as its metal not aluminum and will not expand and contract so much and loosen itself.

As an alternate the stock box muffler that comes with the engine also works fine, but its louder and with less power. It is also metal and will never come loose.

Jeff is a great guy at Minair and he does excellent work. I deal with him often to get my special parts made and whatever I order.

When you go fly you're stepping into the BMW. It will fly and feel like that

Thank you for the pointers. I will keep that in mind. As for the cost, I was well aware of the increase in repair costs associated with buying this heli. If anything, that was the only reason I was hesitant in buying it in the first place. However, once I saw the quality of machine work, I knew that this was a heli that I could hold on to long after I graduated. So, for the time being, I will just have to deal with it in the event that something happens.

Also how do you know that you will not burn this clutch as well. What are you going to change in the heli/engine with the new install?
I will do as I did before and follow the instructions to the T while re-installing the clutch. I know now to keep a more attentive eye on the clutch-bell temp, and keep the head-speed up enough to ensure that the clutch is fully engaged. Thats about all I can do.

Thanks for the input all,
