I started in this hobby in the early 90's with a Hirobo Shuttle ZXX. After many years in the hobby I built a Freya Xspec last year. Now I have two birds and am looking at a third, an SDX. Im thinking this is going to replace the shuttle for good. It will be my new trainer heli, everyday flyer, not that I fly everyday. Also alot cheaper on the fuel bill than the Xspec. Anyway what I am wondering is, you guys that have been in the hobby for a while, did you sell your first bird or keep it sitting on the shelf for sentimental reasons or whatever? If you sold it, do you regret it?

My first bird is no longer with me, but I didn't sell it. Guess what happened to it, and I did regret it happened that way

I sold my first REAL heli. Do I miss it? Sure. It was a good heli. But it went to guy that really needed a reliable ship. So, I don't regret it.

Hell... I can fix that.

I don't have my 1st,2nd,3rd,4th and just a guess my 30th.Not sure on the no. but definitely close. My first was a second hand raptor 30 that served me good but now I went back to a freya and a 50 evo.I like the way the freya flies more than any other helicopter i have had.The evo don't fly to bad either.

My dad bought this heli when I was 8 and only flew it 3-4 times. I admired it on a shelf for many years while growing up. He gave it to me when I found it in their attic in my early 20s. It was my first heli and I learned to hover with some training gear but almost crashed after 10-15 flights. Too much sentimental value for what I could get out of selling it and too chicken to risk crashing it again

My first "real" heli was a Hawk Pro with a wonderful toki 40. I can't get rid of it. I tried selling it for parts, thought I had one taker but nothing. I even broke it down to ship it.

I'm going to have to pay someone and postage to get rid of it.

My first heli was a Shuttle ZXX also. I purchased it in 95 or 96. Yeah, I miss it. It always treated me well.

Still have my first, an R50. It's almost 5 years old -- and I'll own it 'til someone pries it from my cold, dead fingers. Still flies great, so why part with it?

My first was a trex 450 and I traded it for an hpi baja.....I missed it for a long time, then one day the guy put it up for sale

So I have it back and continue to crash it as often as possible
I doubt it gets sold again....

I put the fun in dysFUNctional :)

I wish I would have kept my first heli back in the day. I don't have a clue where it is now.

It's a complex, costly, glow powered anti-gravity machine!

Still have my Raptor 50 after 3 years. Of course most of the parts have been replaced as I got real good at crashing. I do still have the original canopy; Fiberglass with dark blue and a skull deeply embedded in the black windscreen. Never flew it with this canopy on it; too nice. My skills have improved to where I don't crash quite as often. Soon I might fly it with that canopy on it. It has been a good learner heli and cheap to fix. I have enough parts for it to build another. I'll keep it awhile longer.

This hobby is WAY too expensive!!

My first heli was a Shuttle Z back in the early 90's. Plastic everything with a Magnum 28 in it. Used a belt around the base of the clutch to start it.

Loved that heli. Only crashed it once in the 2 years I had it.

I still have the second set of woodies that I balanced and covered for it.

Sold the heli but kept the blades as reminder.

The good ol' days.

Some of you guys are reavealing your lenghty time in this hobby by telling what your first heli was....

My first was a R50V2 and I sold it.......twice. After selling it the first time I regretted it and as soon as the buyer put it up for sale I bought it back. I restored it to the condition it left me, flew it for another year, then sold it again to get a 600N. Sometimes I still think I should have kept it.

Concept 30SR

Flew it for about 4 years and sold it for a Raptor 30.

The guy I sold it to flew it for another 3 years before he buried it on a messed up loop.

Everyone got their moneys worth out of that machine...

My first heli was also a Shuttle ZXX. I sold it to a friend and later bought it back for nostalgia reasons.

Keep it. Everytime you look at it it will remind you of your progress in the hobby.

Mine was a schluter Jr.50 I wish I still had that heli. But if I had learned on a raptor or shuttle I wouldn't have minded to get rid of it and move on.You can find another one of those everyday.
