Okay, so here is the senario, I buy a Hitec Aurora 9, Great radio, flies my Kinetic like a wonderful dream, great and easy to setup. Get to my TREX 450 SE V1, HORRIBLE TAIL ISSUES!!! I have a Futaba GY401 gyro, and a full size S3151 on the tail, while I await my new gear set for my micro servo.

Okay, so this is what it does: I get it to lock, and I have tried all sorts of gain settings, at 100% it holds as long as I am super easy on the throttle, if I give it more than half stick, I get a moderate piro rate to the right, and no amount of left rudder can correct this issue. If I let off the throttle, I regain control of the tail enough to land it. I don't know what is wrong with this danged thing. I have all of my directions on the gyro and radio set proper, the tail lades have been checked atleast 5 times, and I have disassembled the tail twice to check belt rotation. It is the darnedest thing.... any help would be appreciated

what does a dominatrix have in common with a heli? Both beat something into submission!

I am having the same problem with a Blade 400 I am setting up with the Aurora 9. No matter what I do I can't get the gyro gain to work properly. I get serious tail wagging no matter the gain value.

I am using the stock gyro and gyro servo that came with the B400.

I have spent a ton of time on this assumming I am doing something wrong.

Maybe there is more to this.

Thanks!!

100% gain is extremely high for the 401 on a 450. Have you tried it on a lower setting? There's not really a way that your Tx could be causing wag, unless it's defective, which it sounds like it's not since you have another heli that runs ok.

Yeah, I have went from zero gain all the way to 100% gain. I also tried the gyro on my other heli, and it holds strong as all get out. I honestly have been stumped now. I have SEVERE drift in my tail, to the point that it acts like there is something wrong with my tail centering, but then again, on the ground the tail goes 100% left and right. I hope that i am not missing something in the radio, and I am glad that it is not just me with this issue....!!!! Maybe Mike Mayberry will be cruising around here and see this.....

I am continueing to have a problem with this also.

I have tried everything imaginable to get this to work. I have set up lots of helicopters and have never had a problem like this.

No matter how I setup the gyro options the heli obviously needs the gain toned down. I have tried all combinations of gain values, single mode, dual mode.

There must be something with this transmitter thatI just don't understand.

BREAKING NEWS UPDATE!!!!!

Okay fella's, here is the skinny on the TREX 450 and the Hitec Aurora 9. It seems the radio is a cross breed of a DX7 and Futaba 8C. As many of you know that owns one, you have to set your GAIN NEGATIVE to get it to lock in HH mode. Now, you need to run it in single mode, but assign a switch to the radio (I have mine set to switch ("a". Now with the top of the menu you will see either an "c" or an "s". Make sure you set that to "s". That puts it in a Single mode, and assigns the switch 2 diffrent positions, if it is in "c" mode, it COMBINES the gain function, and will never lock.
Next, go into EPA and set both EPA's to +140% and -140%. You will need to move the switch you assigned to gyro to each position to make the necesary changes to EPA.
Now center your servo 100%, if need be, the Aurora lets you make these changes in mere nanometers to get that 1 tooth that always seems to be in the way out of the way, and here is the best part, IT WON'T MESS WITH TRAVEL LIMIT!!!! YAAAAA!!!!
Now, go to the gyro itself, and change the limiter pot to about 80-83%, or to where you are touching each side with your tail slider, but not causing undue stress to the servo.
Set your gain to about 70% on the radio.
Set your pitch curve to under 60% and make it fairly flat for just puttering around.
Set your throttle curve to the following: 0-50-62-75-87-94-100
Turn off the radio.
Turn your radio on.
Plug in your battery, and take off!

yes, the gyro is the only real work to the radio. every radio has its quirks, but at the same time, no radio has the capabilities that this radio has!

Hmm.. I upgraded from DX 7 to the 9 as well and it was a breeze to program the gyro/3G on my 3 helis.

Okay, if you have a slow wag, try raising your head speed. I know that my 450 likes anything more than 75% on the throttle curve. anything less and you will get a slow wag. if you have a high frequency wag, try tightening your belt, or see if your torque tube is tight. those two are common issues with helis. also make sure your head is running true, if it has even a slight wobble, you may have a part out of round, causing an inbalance at speed. I had my stock head block be out by just a hair, and caused all sorts of freaky stuff to happen, all the way up until gravity decided it liked my 450 more than me...... I hope this helps you get the tail under control.

The DX7 needs some basic capabilities.
