How would you rate the DS-620 align servo used for a Rudder servo? This would be used on a 500 class heli at standard voltage.

Thanks

I have one on my 500 and it holds very well. I am running the 3g flb now and before was a inertia gyro that worked really well too. Before that was a jr3400 and the 620 works just as good if not better.

Are you using a standard voltage on this heli, or higher?

I set up my buddies 700N and I love it! I'm getting the 700E as soon as it comes out and I'm sure it will have it or the DS650 included
I'm not one of the guys with deep pockets that pitches the Aligns electronics and gets the best of the best. I'm very impressed with the servos from Align and have had absolutely no issues with any of them. I run DS410's, DS410m's DS420, DS510m,DS520, and 610's on my NSP very happy with all of them. And the tail on my friends 700 was solid paired with the new Futaba 520 Gyro...
It is setup on a 5.1V Step-Down Voltage Regulator,

From Align: DS620 Digital Servo [K10421A]
●Rating voltage 4.8-6V

620 is a great servo, the 650 isnt much more and makes a better tail servo.

running the 650 for tail on my 700 and the 620 for throttle. [seems to be a common set up]

620 will hold well until you're doing alot of fast backwards stuff, then the tail will feel "mushy" at least mine did.

The 650 is light years better on the tail IMO.

650 is a tail servo..

true, but remember align used to package the ds620 with their gyros as tail servos. I used one in a pinch, as I had a JR8900 die on me, and it did work, just felt mushy in fast backwards flight.

I had a 610 fail on me really fast in my 700N on throttle. It started to jump back and forth between idle and the commanded position. I had maybe a dozen flights on it at the time. However, I've had a 520 on tail in my 500 for about a year, and it still works great.

Don't know if it's related, but I had a Spektrum remote Rx mounted near the 610, and on the flights where it started to fail, the data-logger reported that that Rx wasn't receiving any packets - as if it was emitting a ton of Rf that swamped the Rx. Fortunately the other two Rxs worked fine.

**DS620 Digital Servo**
●Coreless Motor Design for fast speed, high efficiency, and low power consumption.
●12 Bits signal resolution for smooth movements.
●Fast speed and high torque. High strength titanium alloy gears with high precision and durable structure characteristics.
●Aluminum alloy mid case construction for instantaneous heat dissipation, maintaining servo’s high efficiency.
●Supports digital & analog control signal.
●Powerful and precise servo, suitable for T-Rex 600/700 rudder use.

If it's not a rudder servo maybe you should let align know
DS650 is better, but the DS620 is a rudder servo according to the manufacturer

620
it says "suitable" which i think you can also use it for rudder if you so desire.

it also say that it's a fast speed and high torque. which, again you can use for cyclics if you want to.

they could have used the word "versatile".

When i ordered the 600 esp as a combo kit the pg750 gyro and ds620 came from align as a set and it worked fine for me.

If things go wrong, let them go wrong WAY over there somewhere

It will work.
Any servo will work.
Depend what you are looking for, just working or a fast servo.
The 620 is about $15 cheaper than the 650.

Thanks, TheWoodCrafter
