Hi guys, I just bought a Bantam BC6 Dualpower charger but I'm having a hard time cycling my batteries. I'm trying to cycle a Sanyo 4.8V/600mAh and set NiCd, then Charge Current 1.2A, then Discharge Current 0.5A, Discharge Voltage 4.8V, is this correct? I couldn't find what's the correct value for Discharge Voltage..

Discharge voltage should be 1 volt per cell or 4 volts.

So basically I should set 4.0V for Dischard voltage, correct?

It has been a long time since I don't use this battery, can I set discharge voltage a bit higher than normal to try to "recover" it? If so, how much higher can I go?

Thanks again, I appreciate your help!

If those are NiCad you want to go 4 volts with the cycling charge to get rid of the memory that it has. If you have lost capacity in the pack nothing will bring it back.

Got it, thanks!

So basically I'm setting the lowest voltage per cell with "Discharge Voltage", did I understood correctly? I hope my pack is not dead yet

Yes, But I would charge it first before going with the cycling. Like you said the pack may be bad now.

Your tip did the trick, it's charging around 670mAh and discharging 600mAh, so I guess the pack is fine!

Thanks Heli770!

Another thing, I don't know if I should open a new thread for this but here it is:

Now I'm charging the LiPo pack from my heli, Align 1900mAh 7.4V. I'm using 1.8A. is this too much? Also, I'm balancing it, never done this before, should I balance everytime I charge it? For the day by day, should I just charge or balancing does the same thing?

You can safely charge it at the 1C rate, so up to 1.9 amps is good.

Edit: Balance charge it, Always.

Well, I don't know if it's correct but it charged a bit more than 1000mAh (I think it was 1053) and showed 4.20V for one cell and 4.19V for the other cell. I tried to check the whole pack with Futaba BR2000, but the connectors are different. Also, is BR2000 compatible with LiPo batteries? I saw only 4.8, 6 and 7.2V.

Nothing wrong with putting back in 1053mah into your 1900mah batt pack, it must have need it. That BR2000 was made for testing NiCad batteries.

Thanks, can you recommend a checker for LiPo or "all kinds" of batteries?

Also, to charge NiMH is the same as NiCd? I'm now charging my transmitter battery, which is NiMH 9.6V 1500mAh, original from Spektrum DX7 and I'm using 0.6A / 8V for discharge, but seems that this pack is really bad, it charges a bit more than 1000mAh, but discharge only half of that..
