Halfords PaintHiya Stebbo.
I say that because I have had too many bad experiences with it! I am no expert but like yuou have searched and explored all the options.
And ruined a scale fuselage into the bargain.
It isn't fuel proof for one, it isn't petrol proof (despite what Halfords say!). So you do need a lacquer.
Lacquer yellows in time and the paint CAN fade.
I once tried Halfords with A.N Other brand and they conflicted really badly. So you need to use exclusively one brand (ideally)
I personally find it too watery.
You need a good primer too (in my opinion!)
Now in the pursuit of fairness, I dare say many others on this forum have used it with success, and of course these are only my opinions.
Now it can be argued you get what you pay for. You pay £5.99 for Halfords Paint.
I use 2 pack (which you can get something very similar made into an aerosol), it set me back £12.99 a can.
You may have great success, and if you do brillient! I didn't
After scale everything else is a toy!
