I purchased one of Eflights direct drive tail units, installed and now I can't get the heli undercontrol. Tail wants to swing left and right and spin around. Put the gear tail back on and flies fine. Have already done the usual checks, gyro reverse, tail reverse and everything else I can think of.

Any suggestions,
Thanks, jjp

Running Blade CP, 2 n 1 controller, century gyro, Radio JR 6202 and receiver.

dd tail motor
I did the same conversion on my cp with the same results. Were you able to correct the problem? And how?

I am certain that either your gyro or the rudder polarity is reversed.

When you apply right rudder does the tail turn the heli to the right or left.???

If it does nothing then the tail direction is reversed...

I was just getting my cp dusted off after not flying it for a while and was wodering if there was an upgrade for the tail because my motor seems to be worn out. It isn't holing and doesn't sound like it has enough power.

When you put the direct tail back on try flipping the tail blades. Its hard to tell which way they go on but 1 way is dead on and the wrong way will do nasty stuff.

I have learned if you move the sticks the right way you wont crash.

Direct drive motors
I've been flying the CP with a direct drive tail for over a year. There may be too much gain on the gyro which will cause the tail to wag.

Also, these motors don't last forever, they get hot and will eventually die. Most of the ones I've had do not suddenly go bad but will spin up and look like they're working - they just won't have the power to hold anymore.

I always take off the old motor and hold onto it until I see that the new one works just in case - then trash the old one.

As far as the uncontrollable spinning and movement, try flipping the tail blade.

735, I too have messed with the brushed direct drive drive tail motor. I did get the set up right with a 3in1 and a G90. There was a very fine line to get it right. I constantly kept burning them out. There are mile after mile of entries of speculation, research and guesses. Once I switched to an all brushless set up, I have had no problem or gripe. The brushed tail( I think it is the N60 motor) may seem like a cheap way to get to ungrade, when really you are better off going to the brushless separates.
I have never had the brushed ESC from the blade CP pro 2( the 2in1), I think that might work, but there is something about the older 3in1s and 4in1s that kill these motors.
Also try switching your gyro if you have one of a different brand. Sometimes certain gyros don't like running a motor or efilte products. I remember a GY401 would not run from a 3in1.

stupid gravity......
