My 500 was flying great . Last weekend I got a 3g for it . All went as planed 3G was easy to set up . I went to fly heli and the motor would not spool up ? All servos and the g3 are working as they should .
When you first plug the battery ( tried 3 different 6 cell packs ) the esc only makes one short sound . So I bought a new esc same thing one short sound for power on , no more sounds . I have a spare motor witch I have tried with both esc's
Any ideas ?
I can't believe the 3G has anything to do with my problem .
I don't want to buy another esc until I find the problem .
Radio is 14mz
Thank for your help and ideas !

esc not working
I had the same experience today with an Eratix 3D plane and it was being test flighted. First flight all was well. Second flight everything worked but the motor. I took it home to take a good look. Figured I'd try one last time before I took things apart.......it worked! The problem was that I fly helis also and don't use a ratchet on the throttle. Guess what, I THOUGHT I was at a fully closed throttle and wasn't! Just a minute amount made the difference. It's worth checking.

Any chance that any of your motor connection wires are touching each other?

Try to wiggle your motor esc connections... One of them may have broken loose

If you just switched to one of the newer Futaba FASST Rxs, some have a very low signal voltage, too low for some servos to recognize, and perhaps this is a problem for the ESC. If you used the same ESC with the same Rx previously, then this is probably not an issue.

I don't know if futaba is like spektrum but are they sensitive to how close the radio is when u turn it on?

Maybe also try to rebind

Hmmm.. I don't have direct experience with the 3G.. but just a thought!!

Any chance you need to re-calibrate your throttle channel with the 3G? so It knows where full Low / Full Hight is ?

Did you follow the step 2.2 in the 3G manual ( long shot ) but check this out on Ron's site middle of the page.. http://www.ronlund.com/

Can you turn on the motor, by eliminating all other devices - Just Motor, ESC and a Rx .. to make sure your motor and stuff is good.

We'll figure this out .. no worries mate

I read somewhere that the 3g could cause esc initialization problems also... Maybe u gotta wait til the patch comes out

Not sure if its been mentioned, but I seem to remember you need to increase the bottom endpoint with Futaba to get the esc to init, then again I could be wrong, maybe Im thinking about the reverse throttle, not sure.

Try this. Disconnect everything from the reciever except the throttle channel and try to program the ESC see if it will program. Make sure your radio is set for a normal throttle curve 0,25,50,75,100. If it programs then you can change the radio to what throttle curve you want.If the ESC goes directly into setup mode with the stick down then you know the channel is reversed and you have to switch it. If you using a seperate BEC. Then you have to disconnect the red wire from the throttle channel off the ESC otherwise your powering the reciever from two sources throttle channel and batt channel and that may prevent you from programing the ESC also. If this dont work then mose likely the ESC is no good.

Have you tried disconnecting the 3G and testing the ESC again just to try and eliminate the 3G as the source of the problem somehow?

I also once had a case where I had to increase my throttle ATV to 120% before I could get the ESC to initialize. (But, I believe that was a Piccolo ESC and JR transmitter combo) You said the throttle and trim are down all the way... what is your ATV at?

Ouch... that looked like it hurt.

Rebind the RX to your TX again. You should get a solid green light from the 3G unit.

See Charles, We are getting old.
If we were flying the 4 channel Futaba with 148 servos and our reliable mechanical gyro you will not be posting this today

Esc working
Problem found
Thanks for all your help and ideas !
I took 3G off of heli to try and find problem . When I was plugging wires back into receiver I realized I had plugged esc into the battery channel instead of the throttle channel . I feel embarrassed , I should have found this right off ! But I am happy it is all working now 3G , ESC and motor . I will go and test fly this afternoon !
Thanks again for your time and help !

Cool !!! So you did end up recaliberating your throttle channel... By plugging it into throttle channell
