Just curious if there is anyone out there that has switched from the iphone to the droid or other way around?!?!

Can I get some legit pros and cons on which is better and why? Please don't turn this into a iphone/droid is better then the other post. Seriously considering dropping the iphone due to a lot of dropped calls lately.

Only thing really bothering me at the moment is the fact that you cant use data while on the phone. Other then that I can live with the droid.

I have a Nexus one. It is outstanding. Since I got it, I stopped taking my laptop home from work..... Since it is Linux based, it is very open, you can customize it and play every kind of video format you can imagine. Flash is easy to do with a little tinkering, but will be officially supported by may.

Android 2.0 on the Droid will practically do everything a desktop linux can do. You can do easy file sharing over wifi, print files on printers on wifi network, remote desktop is a breeze with Tight VNC. (Windows/Linux/MacOS)

I decided to get the Nexus over the droid for the high res LCD,and the bigger CPU, but I do miss the keyboard. I do love the 1GHZ cpu tho. It plays 800*480 OpenGL at up to 55fps
I do have to say tho, the touch screen on the iPhone feels nicer. The Nexus one needs some Expo dialed in

The only reason I'm against iPhone is the way they control everything and having to use iTunes.
If I buy hardware and not rent it, I wanna have the ability to copy anything on it like, not to mention being able to add more memory by inserting a flash card and being able to replace the battery.

I guess it comes down to personal preference. I'm a Linux only user at this point so I like Android. Mind you I rooted mine on day 2 so I'm a bit spoiled

No honey I got that used.... MAAC#73745

Whats wrong with itunes?? I have over 1500 songs on my iphone and none of them came from itunes. And as far as a memory card geeze I have a 16 gig iphone so how much memory does one need for a portable device 500 gig And as far as the battery does it like make you feel good that you can take it out and look at it or something? My phone has never had battery issues other than charging like any other phone on the market... The day that someone else can produce a phone with all the apps and accessories that the iphone has I might give it a look but other wise I have the best and want settle for ALMOST AS GOOD AS THE IPHONE and just my opinion So if your looking for a negative on the Iphone well let me give you one. $30.00 a month to have it is sort of expensive but I expect that to be comming down with all the droids comming out..

went Iphone to Droid. It's not a brick like everyone who doesn't own one says. Great phone and Android software is amazing. The only thing I miss from my 3gs is the multitouch, but the upcoming 2.1 upgrade will will take care of that. The Nexus is going to run 2.1 and will be a hard phone to beat, but I didn't think it was worth the wait or the extra $$. I got two driods one for me and one for my wife for $100 after rebates. Very happy. ATT can lick it. Very happy going back to Verizon.

The biggest reason I got the Droid is cell carrier. I have verizon through work and they offer the best rates for ME.

Its basicly carrying around a pocket laptop that also has a phone function..

I didn't say you have to get your songs on itunes. I meant having to use it to copy anything on it....

Thanks for the input! Like I said I didnt want this to be a iphones better post and I knew it would turn into it lol. Trust me people I love my iphone. I have had it jb since I got it and can pretty much do anything with it. AT&T is the problem and Im not sure the iphone has more then the droid can offer that would keep me with them. Dropped calls are a serious problem. I pay way too much to deal with 8-10 dropped calls a day. Sometimes more sometimes less. Just a pain in the a$$.

The nexus does look promising. Really the only thing I use on my iphone are a few certain apps and teathering. That can all be done on the droid so Im stuck lol. I also hate how Apple has a grip on everything but I still love my iphone!!

Ah what to do what to do!?!?!?

That's why I ditched att. My thinking was that I would get a lesser phone with better coverage. Turns out the Droid is far exceeds my apple fanboy expectations. And I was an iPhone fanatic.

Tethering on the Nexus one is really nice. I'm pretty sure it would work on the droind as well with Android 2.0 but I never tried.
It turns my nexus one into a wifi Access point. I can hook up to it with any computer and steal its internet. Which in Canada is suicide of course, but I can....

Hey white chocolate !!! I hope you know I'm yanking your chain.
I do have an Iphone and here in my area I don't have trouble with dropped calls but I will admit when I had my company phone with Verizon I could make some calls when ATT didn't even have a signal but that has been about 3 yrs ago.I am excited to see what the new Iphone will look like.

If you have had your iPhone jb then you know what an Android device can do from the start. I find the armband comment kind of funny. Why do you need an armband when your phone supports stereo bluetooth, oh wait, it took until OS 3.0 for Apple to get it when some dumb phones already had it. I go through phones like I go through underware. In the last year I have had an iPhone 3G, iPhone 3Gs, myTouch 3G, Nexus One, HTC Touch Pro 2, myTouch 3G v1.2, and the HTC HD2. Most people who love their iPhones stock also had a Razr at some point and don't really understand what is really available to them. I did like my Iphones, once they were jailbroken, but when developers are leaving to go to the Android platform because they are sick of the way Apple controls everything. Those phones are capable of so much more. If you want a phone that you just stick a sim card in and want it to work, then go with the iPhone, unless you want cell service. But if you want a phone you can do as much to as you do your heli's, get an Android phone. You hear of Apple employees taking jailbroken phones from customers but when I go to my local T-Mobile store with my rooted Android phone they love to see what all has been done and are excited people are really testing the limits. Another benefit with T-Mobile is they allow you to get a full upgrade every year now. A pretty sweet deal.

Just my 2 cents.

Well to be honest I wouldn't go holding your breath waiting for the iphone on Verizon network. And even if it did come its not going be nearly as good considering the type of network Verizon has. I DEFINITELY wont be heading anywhere near a T mobile store. If I switch to anything it will be a droid on Verizon. Seriously considering it. Thanks guys!

When it comes to voice yes the network is clearly better. The data side is the problem atm. Like I said earlier, Im alittle hesitant cause of not being able to access data while on the phone. I can think of tons of times were I was on the phone and sent an email while talking. Or talked on the speaker phone while using the gps to get me somewere.

Rex-Why did you get rid of the Nexus One for the Droid? If I were to get a Droid and root it, do I have to learn Linux or is it fairly easy?

?? Then you do not know much about the Iphone or Touch! I have over 2,500 songs never paid for a one, and I can put any movie I want on it! I have two new ones I just put on Zombieland & Couples Retreat I just rented.

I am a first day owner of the 3G and never had a problem with it and my Battery is still pretty good for almost 2 years! My friends droid battery does not last much longer and his phone is new! As for AT&T, I do not have issues with coverage or dropped calls, even when I travel?

App's, I have only paid for a couple like Navigon GPS and I shared the price & app with a friend that also as a Iphone. You may laugh at the commercial wars for Verizon or AT&T, but being able to be on a call and do other tasks for me is what a smart phone is all about. I get on some conference call for around a hour and I am still doing the web on my phone.

By the way my one friend who has the Droid, he said he would not have got one if it was not is company's phone and a few weeks ago he got is wife a Iphone 3GS.
