Still working the rust out of my joints from the winter break. Engine barely has 1/2 a gallon thru it so it is still not putting out max power yet. I have the pitch limited to +/-10* right now for breaking the engine in and running around 1850 rpm.

All and all, very happy with it. So far I am not having any signs of a "Nitro Relapse".

Yes, that was my tail boom support that broke off at the end.

Motor & Fuel
Hey Sparx

What motor are you running stock ? 6.4 gear ratio. How about fuel Coleman or 92.

Just curious.

Good job Thanks

I am running the 21cc engine, not stock. 6.4 Gear Ratio. This engine requires high octane fuel, so I am running 91 octane pump gas.

Thanks!

Nice flying sparx!
You really can fly like "you stole it" as they say The only thing I would say is don't beat on it too much while its still new, especially like in the segments of 5:25 to 5:33 and 6:13 to 6:17 as the motor was really struggling then you just need to let up a bit and not load it so much.

So how do you like the modified motor compared to the stock one that you started with? Do you find it to be any smoother? How about power, can you quantify it with some rpm numbers between the two?

I don't think you'll ever go back to nitro. One can have plenty of fun doing what you did yesterday in that video there is no reason for a nitro. I left those back in the late 90's for the same reason. My birds may not be as quick as the nitro guys, but I'm having just as much fun as the rest of them

There is a reason for my beating on it a bit like I was. I want to see how it is going to hold up to being abused a bit. I was also testing some modifications I made to the stock insulator block. So I was comparing that flight with another I had done previously. In the end, my modifications helped, but did not totally fix it. That is why you seen the power falling off like it did.

I would not suggest anyone doing what I have been doing.

One thing about this Radikal. It's cooling system is so good that the engine can take some of these lean moments. The engine will go lean, but it will not over heat for the most part. Again, I would not suggest anyone one to do this unless they know what they are doing and will assume the risks involved.

What I hope people will see from this video is the power is there and not fully tapped yet. Once I get the air leak resolved, then it is game on.

My take on modified vs stock. Is the modified smoother? Sure. Does it put out more power? Sure. BUT. The stock engine was just fine as well. Mine showed no vibrations. The stock Zenoah engine IMHO is a great engine and does not NEED to be modified.
