I got a strong urge to get me a SDX.
Some questions..

I have some electronics laying around, and I wounder what you think about using them in a SDX that will se mild 3D.

Cyclic. Hyperion Atlas DS20x-TMD Coreless digital Servo
@ 6.0V: 0.13 sec / 9.5kg

Tail. 1 Hyperion Atlas DS20-GMD Servo
@ 6.0V: 0.05 sec / 2.0kg

Futaba gy611 gyro

Rebuild RedLine PRO 53H engine

Any "must have" uppgrades for the SDX?

How is the support for the SDX when it comes to parts from the local distributors in the US aswell as in Europe?
For my older EVO 90, I noticed that parts gets more and more "out of stock"
Just align parts everywhere..

And how does the SDX hold up in crashes? Frame etc..

Thanks for the help...

on the spares
in the uk midland helicopters
in germany world of heli
and in the usa mrc, heli proz's etc

in a crash
my sdx had a servo failure flipping back from inverted and took a 15m nose dive into the ground (flat out in idle up) and it broke the servo tray but the main frames were un-marked
the feathering spindle was un-damamaged and straight
the canopy split along the bottom seam but is still in use

i would use the hardend blade bolts and hirobo say to use the uprated main gear for the neww 55/56 motors
the 611 and tt53 will work well

and i've never seen/herd of the servos in the uk

and the evo 90 parts see above

all you need to do now is buy and enjoy your sdx50

upgrade just the bolts, nothing else in my opinion. As for the spares the Spanish distributor: Aeromodelo.com have also everything you would need for the evo90, sdx etc.... at very reasonable prices.

your cyclic servos seem fine, but the tail servo seems a bit weak in the torque department, i'd go for something 40 oz-in or more.

When it comes to spares from a Swedish point of view you have the Swedish distributor: Autopartner and then you have the Danish distributor Rotordisc'en. Both work fine to shop from over the net.

The SDX flies as well as anything.

For crash tollerance it is above average. The canopy is very tough and the plastic canopy stand offs help soak up a lot of force to protect the frames and electronics. Further the layout of the electronics makes it very difficult for them to suffer direct impact damage.

I have had my SDX for a year and it has suffered three crashes. One crash did break the battery tray. Frames have never been damaged. The only damage to electronics was a stripped servo gear.

In short a very durable, crash resistent, good flying helicopter.

Thanks for all the answers..

Regarding the tail servo ( Atlas DS20-GMD ). The more detailed spec is:

Speed (sec/60 deg @ 4.8/6.0V) 0.07/0.05
Dynamic torque (kg/cm @ 4.8/6.0V) 1.6/2.0kg
Holding torque (kg/cm @ 4.8/6.0V) 3.2/4.0kg

Hope it will be sufficient.

Thomas:

I hade some trouble getting some parts for my freya from Autopartner in Sweden.
And many stuff where back order for a long time. So I hade to turn to US distributors.
I will look into "Rotordisc'en". Thanks for the tips..

CHeers..

Sad to hear that Autopartner is falling behind on support for Hirobo. Hirobo is a small brand in Sweden, it's sad that we are so few that recognizes real quality...
