I have a Futaba 7c 2.4 in which the countdown timer is assigned to the throttle so time is only counted when the throttle is moved. I'm wondering if the DX-7's countdown can be assigned the same way?

No you can't select the thrttle to start it. The new JR 9503 has that feature. Chuck

I did this addon for my X9303: X9303 – Add-on module for automatic switching of timer by throttle stick

There is a version for the DX-7 on that same page. It was quite inexpensive (less than $20) and works just great.
