I built a FBL Beam E4 using a Mikado head and minivbar unit. On hard climbouts I get the nose dipping hard. I thought that it would be corrected by adjusting the elevator precompensation (originally set at 11). Being that the nose is dropping I assumed that the setting was too high. I lowered it to zero with no improvement so I went the other way and set it on 30, again no improvement. The CG is dead on. It hovers hands off and does slow climbs perfectly as well as forward flight, rolls and flips, ect. Any ideas????

The elevator precompensation might be backwards.

One thing I would like to add. The Beams mainshaft tilts forward approx 3 degrees. I fabricated a sloping shelf for the minivbar unit to mount to. If this is not dead on perfect could this cause my problem? I took every step to insure that the mounting plate was perpendicular to the main shaft, but when dealing with such a small angle it is quite possible that it is off a hair, but not much more. What would the absolute tolerance be for this?

Post a few pictures of your setup and also the setup file.

shouldnt be needed to adjust elevator precomp much.

Have you leveled the swash at min/max as well as center?

You can upload .vbr file to your gallery

vbr file is created if you are hooked up to the unit and press save

MrMel,

Uploaded pictures and file into my gallery. To answer your question on the swash. I did level it at top and bottom but I will recheck it now. I have never done a trim flight, will that possibly correct this problem?

Thanks

Lower the Cyclic ring under Setup -> Swash -> Expert to 70

Make sure sensor is mounted straight (lengthwise also), looks off from the pictures?

Remove a piece of the that cable guard cover, its too stiff and push/pull on the unit.

Your trim is too far off, you could do better geometry setup by moving a spline/switching around servo horn.
Under setup ->Swash-> expert you see in the left lower corner "Center", keep those within +-40

Then redo/clear trimflight and try again.
