The video and review was partial sponsored by Century. Nothing to hide here. They gave me a price break for the review and video.
I wish we would get a price break in the UK.

The HD Radikal cost £760 = $1,140 in the UK

If it ain't broke then break it.

Are your videos of the HD version or the LT version?

I prefer the LT version, not because it is lower priced, but because it does it all, and its' head will work with any blade that uses 4mm blade bolts and 14mm blade roots (most blades in that size are like that), while the HD version requires adapting blades for use with 5mm blade bolts and special spacers to fit the 14mm blade root blades into their 17mm blade grips.

The HD head is the same head designed for use with blades up to 830mm. That is why it is the same head as is used on the BIG Condor. I would not think of using that big a rotor head on any of my 50 nitros, so I cannot see why I would need it on a gasser that is only marginally larger then the 50 nitro helis.

I certainly do not think one needs the overkill strength and the added weight on the much smaller rotor disc and head speeds we are dealing with in the Radikal.

Sounds like you're putting too much collective on that motor. Its not happy too much load in my opinion (like 5.xx minutes into the flight and 6 minutes, maybe around 6:15 if I remember right). At the end it seems to get worse and I'm thinking its overheating. When you landed it sounded like it was as well.

Are you sure its only 10 degrees of pitch? I remember people saying they are pulling 12 degrees with no issues. Maybe its just too lean? I think you're running 620's so it should be even easier on the motor than 640's and should be able to take even more pitch.

Boom support breaking off due to excessive motor vibrations. Try to do all you can to smoothen it out.

It is sucking some air around the insulator block. That will be resolved soon enough.

I thought you were flybarless metal head, did you go back?

Sparx, for less than a 1/2 gallon through the motor, you're flying it too hard in my opinion. Also you should get the nicer all aluminum block from the guy that makes the motors that I fly.

Anyway I gotta get off the PC and go fly my Spectra. I need to baseline my motor in there as soon I will be comparing it to another.

rbort,

It has around 1/2 a gallon in the helicopter. There was a gallon put through it before it even got mounted. Don't worry, I know what I am doing

I would have bought a alum insulator by now, but "the guy you get your motors from" has been so damn nice to go around and buy up everything under the sun for this motor. And to top it off, he then is jacking the prices up. So I had to find and alternate means to get what I need because I will not support something that does these things! Even getting engine parts is becoming rough because of how this person is conducting his business.

Sparx:

How am I supposed to know? The video post says 1/2 gallon through the motor, then you say:
It has around 1/2 a gallon in the helicopter. There was a gallon put through it before it even got mounted. Don't worry, I know what I am doing.
Maybe you should just have said 1 1/2 gallons through the motor in the first place as people don't know what you just said above when they see the video?

Here is quote from your other post on the video:
Engine barely has 1/2 a gallon thru it so it is still not putting out max power yet.
So which one is it, 1/2 gallon or 1 and a 1/2 gallon?

As an FYI about the block that I bought, he gets them made for him, its not anybody else's products.

You're with a different guy than I am so just stick with him and get what makes you happy. It really doesn't matter to me where you buy your stuff from or who you support. This hobby is all about the fun and we all get what we like.

And that is where he has them made as I understand. And you cannot get one from them because someone bought them all up.

Also Raja, you should know that running a heli engine in on a bench is not the same as running it in on the helicopter. It just helps progress the process a little faster.

Should have mentioned it sure. But it slipped my mind. Whoops, sorry.

The important thing is to run the metal block.. I have been running one...Tried the Plexiglas or whatever, and it cracked when I put it on, plus more cracks after the second flight..

This should end any issue with the engine, if you run the right gaskets and torque the bolts evenly...

After several flight, my power came back with no leaks.. The engine has such good cooling, it protects you much better..

Just another day on the Gasser Forum..... starts out with someone asking a question followed by some informative posts and then it turns into a pissing contest followed by the original poster closing the thread because of all the nonsense......

Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....

Ray,

Thanks for the tip. I typically do. Just an oversight on my part. It ended well, so that is a good thing .
