Ok, I have been sitting back reading posts and watching what limited videos I can find out there about the Century Radikal G20. Now the question becomes one of purchase. I have owned a Century Predator SE gasser and really liked flying it, but always seemed to go back to a nitro 50 size bird to thrash around the sky simply because of size, flying weight and crash replacement cost. Now enters the 50 size gasser and it of course catches my eye and sparks my interest because I loved the easy on the wallet fuel ..... but does it truly fly out of the box more like a nitro 50 size bird? That was my only complaint about the predator SE was it flew heavy because it was! Im no hard 3D stick banger, but I do like how light a nitro 50 feels and flies when I want to step it up a bit and throw it around. I am familiar with the operating and tuning differences of a gasser so with that said ...... Does the Radikal G20 gasser right out of the box fly as close to a 50 size nitro bird as i am led to believe? Or are these guys making mods to gearing or engines to achieve the right mix of power? I would like to hear from anyone who owns or has flown a Radikal G20 that is either stock or otherwise modified about their opinions of the true performance. Thanks in advance.

depends what you want the rad will fly for 30 mins on 300ml fuel and is cheap to run but the pros end there if your not happy with the way it flys its pointless for me there are some big cons.they stink the car out going to fly so cant keep or work on them in the house.the power to weight is always a killer a trex or raptor weight is 3.4kg without fuel and produce 2.3hp with tt53/os55.the radikal is 4.5kg without fuel with 1.73hp engine.also the price there £715 here in uk you still need a pipe and blades thats double the price of a titan se full combo thats a lot of nitro for me a years fuel and of course you still need to buy petrol.also they are very noisey is it noise sensitive were you fly.hope this helps you i have had three gassers and many nitro machines the funny thing is a cheapo craptor with a good gyro and crappy cyclic servos is hard to beat a blast to fly and fun fun fun.others will disagree.if i was very rich so i could have many helis and lived in the middle of nowhere so i could fly every day i would own a gasser again.

I am guessing Digger has not flown a Radikal. As mine is not twice as heavy as a 600trex. Mine weighs in at 10 lbs. And thats with some heavy radio gear. I will say it is not as nimble in the air as a 50 nitro right out of the box. But for the average 3D pilot it will perform very well. And with some of the engine mods that are out there it will be about as close as you can get to a 50 nitro running a 50hyper. Cost is not to bad for parts.
And as far as fuel smell in your car or home. Just run Colman canping fuel to white gas as some call it. No fumes and good clean power.

Dx7 With Ion Power Supply. Why use anything else.

wait a month or so. You should be able to convert a T-Rex 600n and you'll have a choice of a couple of motors.

base motors currently in use for model helicopters that I know of:

zenoah g20ei - radikal/quick/trex conversion
zenoah g231 - spectra/intrepid/predator/quick/maxum/jr/trex conversion
zenoah g260 - spectra/intrepid/predator/quick/maxum/jr/trex conversion
zenoah rc230 - vario/mongoose/trex conversion
zenoah rc260 - vario/mongoose/trex conversion
crrc pro 26 - RJX

there may be others especially in some of the asiapac unique helicopters. I haven't intentionally left any out if I missed one.

there are also motor variants from the tuners for all of the above listed motors.

Turbo,

I have had my radikal since first release. It is an absolute blast. I have flown it with stock Zenoah and now have the Wally Hyper21. Wally's certainly gives a power boost and smooth as silk but fun can be had with either. Here is a video of mine, hope you like.

Love mine. I haven't felt any "Nitro Withdraws" yet. Have no desire to fly any nitros right now.

Video from yesterday. Still breaking in this 21cc engine and working on some minor issues. Running only +/-10* of pitch.

At first, I was hesitant to make the move to Century! I bit the bullet and boy did it take off! I spent as much on this gasser than I would on a nitro! It was much more affordable to me than any other gasser! The build was great and enjoyable. As for flying, I'm still in the break-in process and can tell you that this machine flys solid, responsive and extremely maneuverable. Hopefully in 3 weeks, I will have finished with the break-in and then leter rip! Bill, Wally and sparx lent a hand in my build with some minor questions. These guys will bendover backwards to help get you going!

I'm sure glad I bit that bullet

As for sponsorship, I consider myself a traditional person and don't need other people's money! I can earn my own heli and choose the one I want!
It sure feels good to call my helis "mine"!

zman and sparx(kinda sounds like a Sat. morning kids show!!!): that's the kind of flying I like. Not so over the top hyper. A little smoother, little slower. The Radikal and Fury 55, thats the decision, but the fuel costs...might be the deciding factor. Just gotta find the $$'s.

Just a happy Radikal Owner here.

Bill, what makes you think I need a faster servo on the throttle?

Thanks Bill,

You are correct, that video was taken a few weeks ago and shortly after, I found my throttle servo was bad. I changed it out and all is good now .

The video and review was partial sponsored by Century. Nothing to hide here. They gave me a price break for the review and video.
