Hi Im new here. i bought a simulater to learn to fly planes, but i got hooked on helis. ive learned to fly them pretty good. i can hover in any position upright or inverted, and i am thinking about buying a heli. ive been looking at the blade 400. is this a good choice? it looks like you can modify it to do ulimited 3D after you learn to fly. any suggestiions would be appreciated.

blade 400
Yes I personally think the blade 400 is the best small heli to learn on.It flys just like the larger helis in the respect of the stick movement. The one thing I have experienced is that because it is smaller the same stick movement will move the blade 400 much quicker than the larger helis. Buy a simulator and step in the world that way.

See if you can find a local field and see what they are flying. Find a Local hobby shop and see what the sell. I don't know much about the Blade 400 but I do know you can't go wrong with a Trex 450 sport. If you got hooked on helis flying on the sim, you'll really go to the dark side once you get a taste of the real thing. Welcome to the world of the money sucking and addicting hobby.

Damn that ground is hard! When's the right time to get out of this money sucking hobby?

Another airframe the is 100% compatible and cheaper than a Trex 450 is the EXI 450, from xheli.com come to about $77. I just built one in carbon fiber. If you want to take a look just go to my Gallery and check it out. I hope it help.

What CowJock said...

Find your local club and start asking questions. Might think about getting what other guys in your area have so it'll be easier to get help.

Hobby King has the 450 Pro clone out now looks very nice. One of the guys picked one up to check it out. Either the EXI or HK over the Blade 400.

the best adice would be to go to your local field and talk to guys about what they are flying. Find somebody to help you set up a bird and train with you. They will steer you in the right direction. It is much easier to get set up help from guys that have the same heli as you do.

It's a complex, costly, glow powered anti-gravity machine!

Another option if the budget is tight. At 199 this is petty good bang for the buck buy. I had a chance to mes with one at the LHS and flew very good right out of the box.

For: wifeorheli ... The xheli.com; EXI 450 flys awesome. Very stable, it do not have any vibes at all. Come with complete metal head and tail and carbon fiber frame it's very light and sturdy. It was a great buy for the price.

Ps. If you want to take glimpse go to my Gallery I have several pictures from it.
