The tail performance on my Velocity 50 has been degrading lately. The tail won't hold level on aileron tic tocs and it has an overall "mushy" feeling too it. Not snappy and locked-in like it used to be. I have actually bumped the gain up several points over my last few flights with no noticeable difference.

The only thing I can think of is that my tail servo is on the way out. Servo is S9256 and gyro is Spartan DS760. Thoughts?

Find or borrow one, install and rule out servo.
Or do what a guy at the our club does, buy one, take recipt and send it in to hobby services for free warranty work-check up.
Not realy on the up and up, his justification- if it was a JR servo, JR would just ship me out another one, no questions asked.
Fuataba services- He said he would not be surprised if they would take your visa number thru automated voicemail before they take your call.

So Futaba won't warranty it without a receipt?

How does it turn by hand with the heli turned off. I had one start to go bad and it started to turn with some resistance. A guy at our field says that when they do that they are soon to fail completely. They should turn freely with no resistance.( Not feel any bit of resistance) Thats what I have been told.

I think it's still pretty free, but I'll it check tonight. I have a replacement on the way, so I should know this weekend if the servo is the problem.

With mine, I noticed a degrade in performance after about 250 flights. You are working on 400ish if you have 10 cases thru it. It just may be time for a new servo.
