Fuse for Cal5?
Hi- this is George in NZ again.

I have a small question for you guys. What Funky fuses can a Cal5 fit into?
I already have a very sweet Breitling which loves the Cal5 electric conversion done by some clever folks up in Auckland. I was ready to do a second scale, so several months ago I grabbed a new pre-painted Jet Ranger- blue and white- very sexy.

I'm now ready to install the mechs into the Ranger- however, I think I may have a ....situation. The nose of the Ranger fuse is gonna be rather close to the front of the Cal5- actually, too close to work at all.
I'm now gonna need to have a chat with my supplier to see if he'll be interested in a trade for another fuse.

However- before I go through this again- can you folks tell me what Funky bodies you've had luck with?

I know I can fit a 109 with a Cal5, as I had one previously. Until the front part jumped off in mid-flight and into the rotor disk. Fiberglass dust..... The rest of the body was fine- but since I couldn't buy a replacement front part- it ain't gonna fly anymore. That broke my heart, I can tell ya.

So- any suggestions from you folks as to what does fit- will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks- g2

Hi george, check out my funkey long ranger build.
it is also close to the top servo mount but has enough clearance
to make it work.

Looking good!
Looks like you and I have something in common! I also have the Allen Hill electric conversion for my Cal's- in fact I have 4 of them- plus one real custom setup by Allen for my TSK30! I love it, as you may guess- and have totally sworn off nitro now. I have 2 more Cals waiting for Hill motor sets- can't wait.

Anyway- thanks for the great pix of your Long Ranger. Yeah, the LR would be longer- I should have thought of that. but the Ranger had such a pretty paint job! But you probably have some actual building skills- I'd love to see what the finished machine looks like.

I have it on very good authority that the A109 takes the Cal5 just fine- from another NZ guy who got his fuselage and Cal5 from Grant B.
My first email was in-correct- the first 109 I had was powered by a Cal30 with a Cal5 tail boom and belt. I learned about this from a chap in New Plymouth, and then I did it myself. Since the Cal5 is a bit longer in the nose than a Cal30, I was concerned that it would actually fit. But since my friend did it himself- I've already sent a note to Grant about getting the new 109 down to me.

Hope our paths cross at a Funfly soon. We are having the Wgtn Heli Funfly in a week- wanna drop everything and come down????

Thanks again for the pix and the info. Us NZ scale guys need to stick together!
