6s vs 8s
ok i can't find everything i wanted to know so i just wanted to ask

im getting a new 600esp and wanted to know if i should go 6s or 8s from the start... im fly 3d and was getting 3.5min on my t500 taking our 80% so i was pushing it, but basically i wanted to know which setup would get me more flight time, and im assuming the 8s would run cooler... also what would be a good 8s setup... i was looking at the ice but didn't know which scorpion to go with... also what mah batteries for 8s? any comments would help thank

I used to have one on 6S 5000, and thought it was not enough. Sold it without trying 8S, but if I was to start over again I'd go 8S.Team Synergy, Rail blades, Team Scorpion, V-Team

when i went 8s , i used a scorpion 4025-890 , 3750 packs and she ran a lot lot cooler , even used the standard 75amp controller too , if you go 8s you won`t regret it , flight times tho i can`t remember , have fun

Nope....You need a 8s charger to charge 2 x 4s lipos at the same time.

If you already have a trex 500 then use two of your 500 packs in either parallel or series. I went 12S (44.4v) on a scorpion 4025-630 with 13T pinion. It's great power, batteries draw half the amps of a 6S setup and best of all you can share batteries for both birds!! I'd recommend keeping the same amount of cycles on each battery "set" that you use on your 600. Here's a link to the 12S setup.

http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=173879

A 6S 5000mah turnigy 35C is around 100$ and two 3000mah batteries are 120$. You get an extra 1000mah to fly on for the extra 20 bucks and will get many more cycles out of this setup. Just drop your battery tray all the way down. It balances perfectly.

You can run two 3000mah packs in series at 44.4V on -630 scorpion and half the amps or even run them in parallel at 22.4V on the -1100. I've done both and they both come down in the 80 degree range. My 6S setups never came down less than 100. Heat is bad for batteries and will significantly reduce the amount of cycles you will get out of your packs (been there and done that!)

PM me if you have any more questions. I've run many setups on my 600 and can give you pinion sizes, wiring setups and battery setups, brand info etc...

FWIW 5 minutes 10 seconds of 3D with FFF and putting back 2200 in each 3000mah pack (same for both parallel and series setup) so could probably go 5:30 but sometimes fly harder depending on if my nerves are stronger some days and I just throw the heli around more.

I charge the 6S batteries on separate ichargers but have set them up with my parallel plug and fast charged both off the same charger at the field. I usually like to balance charge though

what 8s charger are you trying to use?

otherwise, like i posted earlier, the Bantam BC8DX will do what you need. Or the cheaper Hyperion Duo will do upto 6s per channel last i checked.

Well I don't want to buy a 300 buck charger... If I got one it would b a regular 8s charger, but I would want to be able to balance charge a pair through the charger
