Voltwatch operation, When Read it, at rest or with servos movements??
hi,

I just bought a brand new battery for my raptor 90, a hobbico 4.8V 4200mah hydrimax.

I have plugged a voltwatch to my receiver and when my battery is fully charge, the first green light stay solid all the time, and when I play with all servos at the same time (large movements on both sticks), the first green light stay there solid, but all other lights flash at +/-50% of there luminosity including the last red one, but the first green light stay there solid without shutting down. At rest, only first green light stay open.

it is normal? or my servos draw too much power for this 4.8V? All servos seams to have lots of power and moves really quick even with all the others lights opened in fast sticks movements.

thanks

Vincent

I don't like the voltwatch monitor. I use the one by expert. I think it's expert....its in a clear bag with a blue cardboard top / white writing.

Anyway, I've had it for about 3 years and never had any close calls. It's best to land, rotate the swash all the way around a few times, and if it's red, hit the kill switch.

I think the voltwatch will keep a solid led while all the rest will illuminate slightly under a load.

I had cheap one that did the same thing as well and my Nicad 1500 Sanyo pack did the same under full servo movement. It is just sensitive to the instantaneous voltage drop during servo movement that is often more than when the servo stalls. I was concerned and setup a series harness and measured current when this happened and it never went above 1.3 amps during full servo movement. I installed a big LiPo and swithcing BEC and never looked back. 3 AMP was all I needed. I have cheap servos though and higher end servos would require a much higher current rating.Century Hawk Sport, OS .32, Futaba 7C, GY-601 9251

You can try the voltmagic battery monitors
I use those on my helis and they don't jump around when you move the sticks. They average out the voltage and only move 1 LED at a time when the power drops enough to move them.

I also own 1 voltwatch monitor and I put that on the ignition battery of my G20 as they cannot be seen from further away like the voltmagics. You can see pictures in my gallery if you're interested.

Yeah its normal for the voltwatch
You won't see that with the voltmagic, but it does log the lowest peak low voltage seen on the battery during load as well as give a glitch counter. You can see details about that at voltmagic.com.
