Question about R6008HS in high speed mode
I have just bought a Futaba 8FG with the R6008HS receiver. My previous experience of 2.4 sets has been with the DX7/DSX9 AR7000/9000 rx's and the lower end Futaba 2.4 rx's

In the instructions it states that if the rx is switched to the HS mode you get extra benefits on ch1-6 when using digital servo's and that you must not use std servo's ie like when you use the DS mode with some gyro's and throttle governors.

For the channels where the servo plugs directly into the receiver
eg the cyclic servo's i don't have any question with it.
My question is are all the speed governors and gyro's out there happy with this as their input/control signal or is there compatability issues. If so is there any lists out there that say what does and doesn't work.
eg the Futaba governor GV-1 and the kit bundled Align governors don't have a specific DS mode

Martin,

As permanual HS mode is for all digital and brushless Futaba products. Normal mode is for analogue servos.

I have used HS mode on a GV1, worked without hassles, Gy401, GY611, GY520 with digital or brushless servos works well. New Throttle Max works as well, older versions needs to be upgraded.

Cross product integration will always be unknown / uncertain. I am sure Futaba won't go through the exercise to test other products, this will be up to the guys in the field.

All new Futaba equipment works on the S-Bus technology in example the GY520.

Frame rates on other equipment will always be an issue.

I run Futaba equipment on all my machines, except for the Throttle Max. I used to have a JR Tx and changed to a 10CAG, integration to Futaba equipment was a walk in the park, and performance.

Heinz,
Thanks,

The only Futaba gyro i have now is an older GY601,i wanted to use the CSM720 and possibly the JR770T with it if possible in HS mode with JR8900G tail servo (or Futaba S9251/9256).

My Trex600 & 700 has the Align RCE-G600 but i also have a Revlock20,GV-1 and Throttle jockey Pro as possibilities i could substitute if the Align wasn't happy.
I have a R617FS rx i can use for now to start using the radio but wanted to install the R6008HS in one of my 90's with HS mode turned on if possible

Hi MJA

You could do a 1:1 mix to channel 7 and 8 and then get 'low speed' on those outputs.

Paul,

Thanks
Does it matter which mixers i use, just any of the free program mixers?

do you mean i would actually plug into and use the 7 and 8 channels at the rx (as slaves in the mix ) and the info comes from 2 of the HS channels (as masters in the mix) which would end up with no plugs on at the rx.

This should work if i just need two channels getting off HS and back onto std, potentially it could be 4

throttle channel into governor
rudder channel to gyro
gyro gain to gyro

governor rpm would already be on 7

Is there anything that can be done with the channel/function re ordering/assignment from the tx?
I haven't played enough with radio yet but maybe setting the same function eg gyro gain onto ch5 and 8

Is there a very noticeable difference flying/performance wise between HS mode and none HS mode?

I have googled the HS mode and apparantly it enables digital servo's to reach their maximum torque quicker ,which is beneficial for very aggresive stick banging type 3D.

If i had to turn off the HS mode, am i correct in thinking i would still get the 2048 resolution and the cyclic servo channels sent together (what spektrum called servo sync)with it being a multi-ch type reciever?

Yes.

Pre-HS receiver iterations still grouped channels and had 2048 resolution capability.

And you still get the instantaneous reconnect time - a small fraction of a second as opposed to nearly a second with the old model.

I was trying a R617FS i was installing, cycling the rx power to see how fast it reconnects and i thought that was fast compared to Spektrum AR7000.
When you say compared to old model,do you mean R608FS.

Dr.Ben,
Thanks,i also noticed you've written some very good setup info for eccpm and the 14MZ.Those menu items seem to be in the 8FG as well, so i will be using your guide.

+1. Thats what I've observed as well when I was checking to make certain my failsafe was operational. Reconnection speed is very impressive.

The old Spektrum was 3 to 5 seconds. The old 608 was maybe 0.9 seconds. The new 6008 must be less than 0.1
