Troubles with me helis
Hello there fellow rotor fans. I ask your indulgence and assistance of a beginner into this fine hobby.
After a couple of trivial events involving high speed blades of little mass and substances of superiour mass resulting in replacement of the usual bent/broken pieces. I took my Belt cp v2 out into the yard to test. Turned on transmitter checked all controls zeroed, throttle off and trim down. Idle up is off, gyro switch on. Connect battery to heli, red flashing led, 3 beeps, solid led so far so good.
move controls to see if appropiate servos react all appears good so far.
throttle up to spin the blades throttle down throttle up little higher try and get her light on the skids. Oh hell what the? throttle down "she's no gunna take it captn" Throttle is off trim is down engine screaming leaps into the air and suicides into the ground. Motor still spinning, elevator servo buzzing. Disconnect battery pick up the pieces and take it inside. Apart from the bent feathering shaft stripped main gear busted blades and cracked canopy nothing serious appears damaged.
How ever after connecting the battery again the elevator servo motor was whirring away with no input fron the transmitter. Dismantle servo little gears are stripped. tested in different socket motor still turns with no input. Can someone more learnered than me explain why the servo motor spins without input is it because the little board inside died and open the circuit?

It's just because of the stripped gear . With the gear broken , there is no comunication between the servo motor and the feedback potentiometer .At the end of the day , it gets dark .

Thanks for clearing that up.
The missus is getting a little toey and would like to shove a couple of chopsticks up someones nose. She thinks if they are so prone to damage they should have at least some spare bits even if it costs a little more.

I've been having strange problems trying to bind my CP Pro 2 to my DX6I radio with weird results and lots of damage. So you aren't the only one in that boat. Yes, you typically can get gear sets for your servo. Just pay attention on how they come out so you can put them back in the same way. Also make sure you change your main shaft any time you have a blade strike or crash. It takes very little to bend the main shaft and it will vibrate bad when you throttle up again. I've even had minor blade strikes in the grass and it threw my shaft off.Trex 700E / Trex 500 ESP - Ikon/ HD 500 - Ikon 2/ Goblin 500 Ikon 2

Align Carbon Steel main shaft is a nice upgrade. I had a Belt CP V1 it worked great in. You need to instal inverted though and tweak the pitch links a tad as it is shorter. You'll never bend that shaft. Keep the stock spindle though. Something has to dissipate all that energy when you have a blade strike.Century Hawk Sport, OS .32, Futaba 7C, GY-601 9251
