Who was out flying their gasser today?
It's a beautiful day for flying in HI! It's too bad I'm stuck inside waiting for the tsunami to hit.

More later and possibly some photos too!
Just another crappy day in Paradise....Aloha!

I had the chance to work on my Radikal this evening. A couple more nights of work and it will be ready to go!! I'm ready for the 6 inches of snow to melt and it be 65 degrees out. It's a complex, costly, glow powered anti-gravity machine!

Between traveling for work and the crappy weather here, I haven't been able to get to the field in over a month now. It's been snowing or raining for the last week, although tomorrow might be dry enough to maybe try and get a flight in. Problem now is that the flying field is a huge mud pit with all the melted snow and rain on top of it.

At least I've been able to get the fleet of RC 4 wheelers repaired and prepped for the good weather, now the helis and cars are ready to go as soon as the weather decides to cooperate.

I havnt had my Spectra in the air since October. Everytime I go down to the basement and walk past it I want to fly it. Just too cold and snowy for me.

I got out for a short one today
Packed the truck, wanted to fly my 29cc more. Left the house when it stopped snowing, got to the store, got a sub, got to the field and its snowing again! Ate the sub at the field, snow still coming down hard, so drove back home.

Waited another hour and a half, stopped snowing again, went out AGAIN to the park closer to home, got there started snowing again. I said screw it pulled out the radio glove and went for it. Got 1 flight in and decided to bag it as I was at a park and the space was tighter than the field not happy with tight spaces.

I did pull several full power climbouts and man I can see a difference between this motor and the G20, what power climb rate looks double...whew!

I am curious as to why you guys are all excited about that? Comparing a 20cc to a 29cc? Really? They are not even close to being a direct comparison. Considerably more displacement. Not mounted in the same airframe size.

I also doubt the "power climb rate looks double...whew!"

+1 explanation
The point was, the 29cc with the big machine is pulling alot stronger and faster a heavier machine than th 20cc with the smaller machine.

Not saying either is bad, what I'm saying is that power to weight ratio appears much higher with the 29cc in a 13lb bird than a 20cc in an 11 lb bird.

Remember the 13lb bird was originall designed for 23cc, and now running a 29cc in it. Its like putting in a G26 in the smaller bird.

Do you think then the power will be ballistic?

You missed my point.

You wanna compare it to something, then make a good comparison. There are too many "things" to consider and IMHO these things make your comparison null and void.

Do I think a simple engine change will make a helicopter more ballistic? Nope. There are other factors that have to "line-up" as well.

What I was getting at was you are comparing your, IMHO, overweight Radikal with a smaller disc area to heli that has a "larger than normal" engine in it that has a larger disc area. Apples to Oranges.

And I still highly doubt that the "power climb rate looks double...whew!" Maybe compared to YOUR Radikal, but I am sure it is not compared to mine.

Survived the tsunami yesterday. The weather was perfect for flying but was wasted due to me being stuck at work battening down the hatches for the big wave that never came.

https://rc.runryder.com/t573709p1/

Today is way too gusty for any flying, even with a big gasser, so my whole weekend is a bust as far as any air time goes.

Still, it could have been a lot worse, so I won't complain and hope for nice weather next weekend.
