DSM vs. DSM2
I am looking to move into the 2.4 world as well as jumping from Futaba to JR. I was wondering if there was a difference between DSM & DSM2. I see alot of BNF birds in the classifieds, will both versions of DSM/2 bind with those birds. I recently bought a Blade MSR RTF, will either version of DSM/2 bind with my MSR? Thanks for the help.

The FAQ is here: What is the difference between DSM and DSM2? The DX6 and AR6000 were DSM, but I think everything since has been DSM2.

If I purchase a 9303 used, Is there a way to tell if it is DSM OR DSM2?

DSM was only used with DX6 radio which was Spektrum's first 2.4GHz attempt. Everything else JR or Spektrum is DSM2. This includes the 9303 2.4GHz radios. So unless you buy a DX6 (not a DX6i), you have DSM2.Avant RC

XP9303 is the 72 MHz radio. PCM/PPM. If you install the Spektrum air module to convert to 2.4 GHz, you get DSM2 only. No DSM.

The X9303 is a native 2.4 GHz radio, it will transmit either as an original DSM system, or DSM2 system.

For what its worth category
The information I’ve seen from Spektrum indicates that the DSM recievers will bind with a DSM2 radio, but not the other way around.

Thats correct. The only DSM reciever that comes to mind is the AR6000
and they will bind with a DX7 or X9303

Since I dont have any modules, I'm not sure if the modules will step down to DSM or not.
