Just Curious......
How many of you guys fly with pankers? My club that is 98% planker decided to extend the runway and put in a heli pad off to the prevailing wind. I guess they are tired of us "using the runway"! I'm gasser and decided to post it with my gasser pals.....Comment what you want... Just curious....

Our club is fairly small, so "all" RCers have an opportunity to fly.Ray Fernandez - GUAM

That's great
However:

Use the heli pad to hover, adjust links, track, tune, whatever away from airplane traffic.

When you're ready to fly, fly from the runway like anyone else and fly around, don't hover over the runway.

This way you can co-exist with the other airplane pilots, and, they gave you a spot for you to tinker

Lastly, never hover for flyby low in front of the airplane pilots while they fly. If an airplane pilot is on your right, and no-one is to your left, make your approach from the left and never in front of him low. It will help ease friction knowing that you are being courteous to him while he flies.

I fly with plankers but will say this. I go out often when it's very windy or know it will be. I get to the field and plankers are flying and the wind goes to 10 to 15 mph and they all clear the field . I then fly as there really is no difference to me if it is still or windy with my gasser.Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

I do
We seem to get along great and I think I'm slowly winning a few converts.

Was thinking about putting in a round resin picnic table to the turf line for a heliport - but I changed my mind - It might be a bit slippery.

I now just kinda have a few spots I smoke the grass off .

Since I pack a varity of stuff - by the time the field gets a bit busy I just pull out my fatties or whatever and usually there offering me transmitter's to fly the warped one's

Our club is mostly planes too, just a few helis from what I have seen. I'll get a real good idea this season, as I only joined after I flew there in November (close to my house lol). I think I have the only gasser there, too- Brian

Our club members get along great I think that some are just a little intimidated with helis flying.

Usually there are about 4 of us flying at our field and have had no safety issues to speak of. We are aware of the dangers as stated by Raja and take safety seriously. Its the plankers that have the safety issues!!!

We do have several plankers exploring helis. They are just afraid to take that first step.

One thing they all like to see are gas helicopters

Thanks for the comments...

Our club has 65 members of which only 5 guys have helis. They normally like to watch so they don't bother us too much. We typically take turns and its never been an issueIt's a complex, costly, glow powered anti-gravity machine!
