Hello John, yes things could be better, as always, but good enough.
About cameras and if you don´t mind me hijacking a little your thread, have just bought a Panasonic ZX1. Have not tested in flight but at least it has live video output, can record up to 15 min in HD and opperative zoom when recording (up to 8X optical) (no live vide out in when recording video) and an amazing gust shot mode about 6 pics/sec. Max resolution 12 meg and optical zoom from 0 to 16X optical at 3Meg. The image stabilizer seems to work very well and all that at a cost of 200 eur.
Those are the pros, the con is it has no remote trigger system so I will need to eviscerate the new toy (without the missus knowledge) the same way I did in all my other cameras to jump the trigger and focus.
I write all that because before buying it I tried to find info about anyone already using it.
Hope this info could be useful for you or anyother.

keep in touch.

Really enjoyed the pics John!

Do you use 5S packs on the 500?

Cheers,
Jeff

Hey Jeff, I'm pleased you like them!.

I use 6S 2600mAH packs with the smallest pinion and govern the head at 2150. This give a flight time of 8-10 minutes (depending on the wind).

No - I use a 12T.

The RPM is 2150 at about 80% throttle using a 6S 2600mAH pack. I govern it at that to keep all the flying characteristics constant.

Beware though : don't use the Align ESC's governor mode. They seem to pulse the power and cause the tail to wag.

My priority is longer flight times though - you might want the additional headspeed if you're doing video.

The stock Align 60A RCE-BL60G.

Works pretty good - apart from the governor mode.

Hey Anake,

Sorry we couldn't meet up on my recent trip : I didn't have a free weekend the whole time.

We got involved helping out with 'Young Pilot-TV Thai' where some good guys go around Thailand encouraging school children to get interested in technology.

We went to various places. This is a pano from the sports arena at Kanchanaburi. The bridge you can see in the background is the infamous 'Bridge Over the River Kwai'.

If you hate Quicktime as much as I do, there is a free panorama viewer here which is much better : http://www.devalvr.com/
