Battery pack building--soldering?
I'm building several packs for the "boss". These are li-socl 2 cells.
They bear the warning i have seen on lots of cells, that includes "do not solder directly to cells."
Can someone tell me why? These packs are like others that have "welded" contacts.
Spot welding has to generate more heat than a big soldering gun done quickly.

Nope, welding only has local heat on two little spots for a very short time period. An large iron has a larger head and promotes more heat.If you skip me I can't play!

Just cut the contacts/webs and resolder them instead. If you were to solder to the cell directly you would need to know if they're aluminum or steel. If you skip me I can't play!

The replacement batteries were ordered wrong, without tabs. The endcaps are steel, and solder well.

After doing a bunch of research on the batts/procedures, that i have been provided, i am just going to solder up what loose cells they have. The device manufacturer supplies packs for very little more $ than just buying loose cells. So after these have been used up, i will be off the hook for more!
