Boom gets warm!
I'm starting to run up my Logo 400 V-Bar prior to its first flight at the weekend (weather permitting).

Currently at 2200rpm on 5s and 18t pinion.
Measured from the tail blades for safety.

After a minute or so my boom starts to get noticable warm.

Is my belt tension correct?
How do I check if the belt tension is right?

Have I done something else wrong?

Thanks, Paul

Your belt is probably rubbing against the boom. Maybe you have a twist on the belt.

I'm pretty sure I don't the belt runs very freely.
If I have a twist I would feel the teeth catch each other

Hi Paul, when the tail unit is out of the heli I pinch the belt with my thumb and forefinger just behind the drive pully. I feel the belt take up the small amount of slack there is there but the bely should not go anywhere near being pinched together, if you see what I mean.

Hope it helps

The tail boom was getting noticably warm after a few minutes.
Plus I had severe static problems.

Grounding the boom to the motor plate and ESC -ve wire, plus checking the belt tension have fixed both issues.
